18" tires
Saturday, July 29, 2006 7:42 PM
I finally bought some rims for my 2000 cavalier and im looking into tires now. I really don't know much about tires and I have been searching on here and I'm more confused than I started. I'm looking for the size 225 40 18 and I was wondering what is the best type of tire and rating to get for this size?
Thanks Guys

This all depends on what you want from your tires.

What are you going to use them for? Do you need all-seasons or just summer? Are you looking for performance or longevity? How much are you looking to spend?

Tires are all about deciding what you need most and then making trade-offs to get the ones you need.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^ x2

Weasel is complety right, but that is the same tire size i got on my 18s (I have Nankang tires), they are great for handeling and turing at high-speed as well as traction. But some good brand of tires are toyo, bf goodrich makes some real nice ones, pirelli, kumho, and yokohama. Thats just a little list of the tires that will fit your rims. But goto tirerack.com and read and look up different tires. (Your best bet is to get a pair of summer tires, and use your stock in winter. You dont want to get those rims all dirty and gross and messed up in case of a accident) Thats my 2 cents

g-Force T/A KDW 's are nice tires!!!! pricey, but nice. I have Kumho Ecsta STPs, they are great too.

www.tirerack.com

start reading reviews... or walk into a Goodyear / Firestone / America's Tire Co. and let them sell you a tire.

i am a huge fan of toyo...they make a great tire. if you go there only get the proxes series. i have nitto neo gens and they are a good tire too, but i like my old toyos better- i think they perform better. i have heard nothing but bad remarks on the BF's so idk...my advice would be just to research like no other
