So looking into the 5 speed swap.
I have someone who is parting their eco 5 speed. Im grabbing their pedals off of them, but is there anything else I can use off of the eco for the getrag swap like shift cables, clutch res and master cylinder etc?
Thanks.

get everything but the trans then go buy the right trans
JBO since July 30, 2001
Right, I knew the trans wouldnt work because of the bellhousing. I'm working on that elsewhere
Thanks fellas.

The shifter cables will work, but the shifter cable bracket on the transmision is different. Everything else will work. Dont forget to get the clutch master as well.
Thanks Darren, yep got the clutch master. Ill have to be on the lookout for the cable bracket.

I still cannot believe you blew a built trans in 5000 km David... Jeremy put stock 4T04E's though total hell and at worst he got a slipping torque converter at the track...
I'm super curious to see whats inside that trans when you open it - I bet you didn't even get to do a burnout on it. :S
Why do I feel like my luck has been passed onto you?

I am wondering why this is not a stick for this swap

Chris, I agree man. I had Jeremys in mind when this happend. I thought to myself and told the dyno guy that it only has about 5k on it. He said its either the torque convertor slipping, or even the clutches. So, i plan to take the car out for a spin this weekend to see if its still slipping.
Jason, you mean STICKY hehe

As said you can use almost everything except the bellhousing on the tranny.
Anyway the person can cut the btrackets off the frame rail for you?

John, I doubt it. i dnt think he has the time. I guess id rather have new ones just to be safe.

While we are on the subject of interchangeable items.....I have poly bushings in my Isuzu mounts. Is it OK to press them out and reuse them in the Getrag mounts?? I was not sure since there is a lip on them

Also, all the swap threads ive seen from auto to manual, i havent seen radiators mentioned. Does the swap require a manual rad? Or do i just keep the auto one and not use the ports for the auto trans lines?

You will be fine with the radiator just make sure to get all the trans fluid out so it doesnt leak.
Most OE type aftermarket radiators are made for an auto as its easier to stock 1 radiator to cover both transmissions rather than carrying 2.
Im not sure if you can buy the mounts new anymore. I posted pictures with part numbers for the one mount that was available from GM in one of the swap threads.

per GMpartsdirect, part#22629361 is $19.33 plus shipping. This is the rear mount.
TTR use to make the front mount, but I want to say they stopped.

Thanks for that Part#
Damn I gotta PM TTR to see. That would suck to grind one off in the yard.

Yep they stopped. Damn. If I get 3+ members then they will make a batch for us. But I doubt I could even get that.

it figures those mounts would come along a month after I searched out and bought a manual car, lol.
We did stop making the front adaper/weld on bracket... However we are about to make 1 last small batch of them, so if anyone wants to pick them up (even to resell them later for more $) it would be a good time to get on the list in the transmission forum.

Probably because the front is easer to make. Our first eaco swap we used 2 rears.
