Anyone have an idea of what this might be before I get into it....

93 Cavalier 2.2L, manual transmission, I race it on dirt tracks. It has been getting progressively harder and harder to get it to shift from second to third. I will press the clutch, shift, let off the clutch and it is not in gear, just revs free, and then I have to press clutch again and shift again to get it to go into gear. It seemed like it would shift more reliably at lower rpms than higher rpms. This last race, it got to where it would not shift into third at all.

Now, mind you, shifting from first to second has given me no problems at all. And I wouldn't know about third to fourth, because I only drive this car on the track and therefore don't have the opportunity to ever shift from third to fourth.

Anything easy I should look for? Other ideas as to what it might be?
