Loosing Pressure
Monday, June 16, 2008 12:50 PM
Hey

This problem is really getting on my nerves, I had the clutch done about two months ago and its just not right.

Problem: After using the car for a couple days the clutch starts loosing pressure and has difficulty going into gears. when this problems happens, if I keep pumping the clutch pedal with the car on it gets enough pressure to go into gears just for a bit thou. No fluid loose.

Whats been done: Slave, master and clutch has been replaced 3 times. Also a used flywheel was installed recently too.

It is good for another couples days after bleeding it, very little air in the system and sometimes there is no air. My hands are in the air and so is the mechanic. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Is the cap sealing on the resivor? Sounds to be like there is air in the system, but you said there is no leaks.

Im having the same problem with my 98 cavalier . I've had the fluid bled at least 3 or 4 times. they keep telling me that its the location and it can get air in it(sounds like bs seeing that it never happened in the last 5 yrs). After it has been bled, it will run good for a few days and then will lose pressure to where i have to press down 25% of the way before i get pressure. I pulled off the cap tonight as i have several time and pumped the clutch at least 200 times or so and it seems somewhat better(more like pushing in 10% or so). It still seems like I have problems shifting while Im driving (not shifting gently) but when its stopped it shifts ok. Sorry, not trying to jack this thread, just wanted to say Im basically having the same problem and im still working on it. Im taking my car in tomorrow, I'll give ya an update on my problems. Knowing my luck, they will say its something else eventhough i just replaced my clutch, flywheel, master and slave cylinders. well good luck on the problem.

IF I say this once more, i may get angry,

Pump it up by hand, it can take a bit, this is NORMAL.

ok sorry for such a latency on the reply. Its only because ive been dealing with getting the run around from AAMCO and just last week after taking it in the 5th or 6th time they replace the master cylinder. It still has a problem with feeling a little loose but it doesnt graduallt lose pressure anymore. I still have the problem though with my gears not shifting smoothly. Ive been told it could possibly be the syncro or something of that nature. anyone know anything about that or know how much that can cost to fix? Also is there a way (not bleeding) to adjust the distance of the clutch(how far you push it before it has pressure) cuz i cant have my floormat in cuz it wont go enough to shift without scratching

So this is where we are. I've taken back my car twice since the last post. They have since replaced a hose for my master cylinder and they keep saying the sh*t is fixed, but by the time i get my car home 30 minutes later, its giving me problems shifting and ive lost pressure where I have to press halfway down to get any pressure. my question now is in all this happening if this is going to screw up my transmission . hell it might of already seeing how hard it is to shift but ive just got to keep this car working until i get my tax return and can get another car. if i have replaced my master cylinder, slave cylinder , flywheel, and clutch, is there anything else i can do? please someone help. this car is driving me crazy guys. thanks in advance
