Size, weight, shape, number of internal components, arangement of internal parts, materials used, manufacture, and probably lots more.

About the only similarity would be that they supposedly have the same gear ratios and final drive ratio. I have my doubts about that though.

Actually a 2.4 isuzu and a 2.4 getrag do not have the same gear ratio's. About the only thing they share is the motors they are used on.

All the info I have found said that they were the same. But comparing my 98 to my 02 I know something is different.

They gear ratios are different between the isuzu 2.2, 2.4 and getreg transmissions:

Isuzu 2.2:
1st - 3.91
2nd - 2.18
3rd - 1.45
4th - 1.03
5th - 0.74
Final - 3.58

Isuzu 2.4:
1st - 3.73
2nd - 2.18
3rd - 1.33
4th - 0.92
5th - 0.74
Final - 3.94

Getreg:
1st - 3.58
2nd - 2.02
3rd - 1.35
4th - 0.98
5th - 0.69
Final - 3.94

At least that is the information I have, correct me if I am wrong.
