3rd gen shifter interchange

Whats the differences between the 95-99 and 00+ shifters in 3rd gens?

Has anyone ever actually measured the throw changes with a STS installed?

Does anyone have one lying around (the entire unit, including the piece that bolts to the floor) to measure up the bolt pattern for me?

Well I know there is big differences between them. I have access to a 00+ set-up, but won't be near it until next weekend.

The bolt pattern is the same on the floor, I just swapped out a 95-99 one for a 2000+ one while doing my eco swap

00+ I believe has the reverse lock-out while 95-99 does not. I also believe, but I may be mistaken, that the 00+ are threaded for the shift knob, while the 95-99 have a push on knob.

Most short throws will make a diffenerce in shift length, but you can shorten it even more by chopping some of the shifter off the top. I had a B&M in my 99 Fire GT, and it was good at first, but I cut off about 1/2" or so, can't remember exactly, but it helped a lot.

I found a pic of the 00+ shifter and you can see the Reverse lockout and threads for the knob...

As for the 95-99 I know for a fact it does not have either of those things.

Cool. If any of you guys can meaure up the bolt pattern on the floor, that would be awesome.

I'm leaning towards using the 95-99, since the shaft can be modified a bit easier than the 00+.

A 95-99 shifter (manual) assembly has the same pattern as the 00+... I have a 00+ in my 96 auto

I have a 96 with the B&M. It has reverse lockout. I have the old shifter and assymbly laying on the floor in my garage. And the B&M installed in my car with a different shifter. What do you want to know about them? I could probably compare these.

I'd like to know the bolt pattern measurements where it bolts to the floor and the throw change using a short throw vs stock.
