hey i am building a 3 spd for my 88 Z24 with a 3400 swap it was a 5 spd car but i want auto so i was looking
at some builds that was done here and i got some ideas but i am having a hard time to find parts
i want a 3.43 final drive so with a stock Z24 trans i can do that by changing the diff gears to a set of 3.06 but i dont know what car came with them ?
and i want to go with a 2500 stall torque and the same go's for that what car did it come in ?
and did anybody ever put a trans brake on them ??

Sorry it has taken a while to get back to you on this, I've been busy. Sounds like you've been reading my thread "Stock Torque Converters, 3 Speed Gears and more" unfortunately the host for the catalog pages has expired. They would have answered atleast what code TH125C to get the gears from, but not what vehicle. When I get some time I'll rescan the pages of the catalog and repost them in the thread.

I currently have the 3.43 final drive and I found the differential in an early 90's Pontiac LeMans. I'm sure if you search the local salvage yards, you could find one or the other manufacturer/brand equivalent.

As for the TC, like I posted in the other thread, they have a four alpha-numeric digit code that determines the usage and stall speed. The first digit will be "F", for 125C & 440-T4/B-21 Family of TCs. The second digit will need to be a "B", for 2560 rpm stall(the closest I could find.) The third digit is for the clutch type. Woven graphite would be the best, but there are many other options available that will still work. The final digit will need to be a "B", for 237mm 125C & 440-T4 (4T40E also) transmissions.

See your local transmission shop for more info on the TC you are looking for, if you decide a stock replacement (albeit for another car) will suffice.

I still would recommend a custom TC for a reputable custom race/high performance TC builder. My Yank 3000 rpm stall tc has been great, I just need a little more gearing for the track.

I actually have a FBRB TC here (R for 140# RTC Paper Clutch) that I had on my car for a while, it worked fine, just didn't have enough stall speed for my set-up. With the added torque of a 3400, it would actually stall at a slightly higher rpm.

Hope this has been of some help, Good Luck!
