I was stumbling through my Summit racing catalog @ work this morning and came across a list for GM trans tuners made by a company called Granatelli. But they only listed 4T65E,4T60E,4L30E....
I got home and dug a little deeper into the Summit Racing website to see if they made them for the 4T40E... but i didn't find anything at first. So i went to the companys website and meandered around and guess what??
WE HAVE AN ALTERNATIVE!!!

Summit has them listed on their site to go for $129 but won't be going out till late march. I so far asked Jason @ aplus to look into this for me since they site says they support distributers...

you can get a B&M shift+ for less than $30. They work great, give nice consistant shifts, and unless your brain dead, are easy to hook up.

Hmm... that's the exact same unit with a different sticker.

I know this Grimor, but actually from what i heard the B&M shiftplus really isn't meant for the 4t40e.... I also still have a warrenty on my car till oct 07 so, i know my dealership would hassel me about me cutting wires to the tranny if i had to bring it in for work. After that i could give a ratts ass...

You dont, sorry to burst peoples bubble....
This is 100% the same item as the AutoTrans the only differance is the fact that these have a different sticker on them. AutoTrans made these units for this company as a "Privet Lable" item....
Ive already talked with this company, since AutoTrans is no longer in business, this company is more or less not going to be able to sell them any longer since they can no longer get the product either.
Hope this clears some things up for people.
Damn it all...... Well when summit says thier order comes in like they said they were gettins some in, i am going to snag one up and bask in my own happyness for getting one.
Did anyone else hear about Autotrans getting bought out? I called Car Customs the other day to get my faulty Autoshifter replaced, and they said that the items are on extreme backorder cuz Autotrans got bought out by a leasing or legal company. Kinda gay to have to wait for my replacement, but the guy on the phone assured me he'd get me one as soon as possible. Just wanted to get that one out there.

ive had both , and still swear by the b&m unit
ive got it on 2 of my cavs , and 1 has over 35,000 miles with the unit on it , the other has prob 20,000 on it
both are milage with the unit hooked up , and the 1 with 35,000 has over 107,000 on it , and the trans had a minor problem from the day i got it , and its still going strong , and under boost also
i know dave has had 1 on his 97 Z24 longer than ive known him , and his is still going also
I've had my B&M on for over 8,000 miles now. and by on I mean on setting "1" all of the time

i've used the Interceptor on 2 different Cavy's. one now has 270,000K's on it. the Interceptor got put on at 178,000K's.
ok now if there is an alternative out there to the autotrans where can i get it i have been looking for it for a few months now and still cant find it
im still trying to get my hands on an interceptor, but im planning on making a few changes building my own. if i can get my hands on one i will let you know. if anyone has one they would like to donate (functional or broken) or even sell for a good price to a good cause, let me know.
Injection is nice but id rather be BLOWN!
The Interceptor units were made by Autotrans, and re-stickered by Granatelli. Once Autotrans went out of business, everywhere stopped carrying them since they couldn't get them anymore.
You can find them used once in a while, around here, Ebay, any other forums that use the same 4T40E transmission (www.grandamgt.com has base/non-GT Grand Am users on it, www.quad4forums.com, www.aleromod.net, www.n-body.net, www.clubcav.com, etc).
I'm trying to track down the used one I ordered... it seems to have gone missing in the mail
