my cars a auto 4 speed and if im on a hill and the cars in D and i let of the break it rolls back like its a 5 speed. or if im on a hill in its in R i will roll forwardif im trying to back up the hill.

Its called a torque converter. It acts like an auto clutch. At low RPM's it donent lock sp, around 1000-1200 it starts to lock up, 1500-1700 it locks up fully. Hope this helps.
