changing the fluid is prolly the best thing you can do apart from new clutches or a shift improver

MINE IS TOO. i have 146,000 miles on a 1998 z24 auto 4 speed. I have modified the airbox and bored out my throttle body. It shifts at redline instead of right before where it used to shift.

If I change my tranny oil and filter, will that help? I dont know when it was last changed and there is no dipstick to check it. Any help guys?

from what i learned, changing the trans fluid every 50,000miles is ideal, if you havent changed the fluid since u got it, being over 50,000+ then a trans flush and new synthetic fluid is recommended along with what El Diablo said, get a shift improver like B&M Shift+ for under 50 bucks or the plug-n-play autotrans interceptor for like 130. hope that helps. also read the sticky faqs in the tranny forum, that'll help in deciding on what fluid to use and what not to use.

no, thats true, but using the search function sometimes is a great asset. im trying to use it as much as possible rather than ask in the topic area. why? will in most cases the question u have was possibly asked already, so it saves everyone else time and yours waiting for a response. just my .02 cents

not having a dipstick is one of GM's "bright" ideas. its suppose to be a sealed tranny and should never need service. well thats not going to happen.
