I was wondering how many people own a 99 to 95 sunfire with a manual transmission, the reason I'm asking is because I wanted to know how many time your tranny has blown, and how many people have problem with there speed sensor? Do you think its better to buy a Sunfire 2000 and up or to buy a Sunfire 1999 and earlier?
Got a 96 2.2 and I've never had any trouble with my tranny.
honestly unless you baby your car all the time your gonna have trouble with your crappy isuzu tranny. I`m on my 10th one in about a year but i drag race mine every weekend so i`m prone to have them but the best way to go is to get the phantom grip ls setup and it kinda stops the spyder gear trouble. btw learn how to build your own tranny and it gets alot cheaper. ive swapped the 2.2 internals into my 2.4 case and it does great with the booost!
not sure how many blown I@!#$zu trans' I've swapped out....... but its been alot. We even blew our trans in our drag car..... and it had the older 'hardned/machine cut' gears from the impulse, and the LSD...... now we have a fully welded diff.... no breaking that thing
Alot less problems on the 00+ getrag units. Mine held up fine under stress from my turbo 2.4.
