Been trying to get a new drivers side axel for my 2000 2.4 sunfire with no luck. I had both Advance Auto and Auto Zone order me in axel both times where the wrong one. They have the same part number listed for all 2000-2004 and it's deffinatly the manufacturer that is screwing up on this. The axel they tried givign me didn't have a sproket for the abs wheel sensor to read, splines were way to big, and the splines to go into the tranny were internal instead of on the outside. I went ahead and ordered one for a pre 2k jbody cause i can't imagine that they changed the axel for a different tranny. If anyone can confirm that the axels are the same from pre2k to present that would be great. I think someone said they do but i can't remember. I'm sure i can't be the only one that has experienced this problem. If i am then i won't bother to call that place that is selling them to tell them that they are making a huge mistake.
The axles SHOULD interchange.................
95-05 the drivers side should be all the same
the 95-97 passenger side had a bearing mid way through
thats for the 5spds
the autos for the 4spd should be the same 95-05
abs was only optional starting in 03

You should take out the old one to have it matched up.
I had both axels out when I put a new clutch in my car last week so i konw for a fact it was wrong. Last resort is having to get a brand new one from gmpartsdirect.com.
sorry to jack the thread, but does anyone know if a passenger cv shaft from a 95 2.4 can fit on a 99 2.4 (5speed) the 95 bolts onto the block halfway through, not sure if the 99 is the same
My 99 does not have the bearing that attaches to the block. It is one shaft from differential to spindle.

I just meant, have it matched up at the parts store.

That I am not 100% sure on, but I believe the mounting points are there, but may need to be drilled/tapped to bolt up.

they are taped already , i belive the same spots are used for the auto trans bracket
