Recent dyno results of JTuners 2.2L OHV turbo kit with JTuners Intercooler, 310 CC injectors, Hypertech LT1 fuel pressure regulator and full 2.5” exhaust on otherwise bone stock 2002 Cavalier:
180 HP and 215 lb/ft torque at the wheels!
Observations:
- 180 lb/ft torque at the wheels at only 2,500 rpm
- 215 lb/ft torque begins @ 3,000 rpm & holds through 4,100 rpm
- At 4,700 rpm, still producing 200 lb/ft torque at the wheels
- At 5,200 rpm, still producing 175 HP and 175 lb/ft. at the wheels

Install Shop Commentary:
“I just got off the dyno with Tony’s Cavalier, and the results were impressive to say the least! Included in the graphs are the hp/tq and the hp/air fuel ratio. His car was running 2.5” exhaust from your down pipe back. The boost level was 4.6psi. I offer you guys this graph, no BS, as I was VERY happy with the results of his kit. Most important, Tony is very happy with his kit, and plans for a built bottom end, management and more boost in the future.”

nice numbers man!!!! are you using an fmu at all?? or just an afpr??

Very nice. Hows that Ecotec kit coming along?
Nice. as stated are you using a FMU? Is there any plans for more boost? Also what was the air/fuel like?
FU Tuning
ecotec turbo kit would be nice

actually, given the fact thats a Dyno Dynamics dyno... those are pretty impressive numbers for only a little bit under 5 psi.... Dyno Dynamics has shown to be generally 10-20 hp lower than Dynojets in most instances from what I've seen on vwvortex.
It does however look like the stock head and valvetrain restricts the top end pretty bad though... on a more efficient engine the power wouldn't be dropping off toward redline like that. Sounds like your customer needs a good FI cam and some port work

It looks like he's running too rich, thats why the power seemed to drop like a rock.Im sure if they took some fuel away on the top end, there should be a nice increase in power.

Whoa whoa whoa...... HOLD THE PHONE ............
180whp at 4.6 psi ...................................
HOW ?????????????
well lets say that 10hp/ 1 lbs of boost.... on a stock head with stock CFM flowing capabilities......
rule of thumb.......
so lets just say 46hp.... even if that was whp.......
the stock 93 or 98 whp of the motor PLUS the 46 whp ...
do the math ..........
those numbers don't make sense....
not saying your lying.. believe me... I'm NOT
I was getting flamed for my 222.3 whp and 231.7 wtq at 10 psi.....................with my 2200....
well not flamed... but I had my non believers..........
and I have ported intake manifold.... big bore tb 62mm......... 8 oz. crank pulley, engine mounts, grounding kit..... 3" mandrel exhaust, plugs, 10.2mm wires, MSD packs.... ummmm......... Lightened flywheel, stage 3 luk clutch......(it was slipping during my dyno)
what was the temp during the run .... the temp during mine was HOT ..... like 85 F.....
This isn't a flaming post..... and I did only get 1 dyno run ......
but some questions ............
HOW did you get those results with a BONE stock 2200... at 4.6 psi ..................
I saw the numbers ... I was expecting at least 7 pounds of boost to achieve those numbers.........
180 is by NO means 222 whp ...... I still got 42 WHP on that ... but I'm MAXING OUT my stock internals potential .... and intergrity.........
so if you could possibly check out my car domain ...... look at my dyno (VERY LEAN) and let me know what Im doing wrong ..... like is my charge piping too small ???? 2" ....... I have a 3" exhaust..... a .63 trim t3 turbo ............... so you got any advice coming from a trusted company...that would be GREAT feedback !!! thanks in advance......
PLEASE DON"T TAKE THIS POST THE WRONG WAY I"M WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY too impressed about these numbers to have you think I'm knocking them .... just some simple questions..... hopefully going to get some good answers....... well I know I will....... your company is great.

yes i would like some feed back on some of the things lee said, but just remember were not flaming. ur company is greatly appreciated around here. i just want to kno because i just put on a turbo on my car and am pushing 7-8psi. and i want to kno where about i am.
DRIVE HARD OR DONT DRIVE AT ALL!!!
question hahn claims 171whp and 195 wtq at 8psi. some one please explain. is this due to the turbo size difference or something like that please let me know i'm about to bye a turbo kit . and if these numbers are true i whant this kit.
slamcav wrote:question hahn claims 171whp and 195 wtq at 8psi.
whoa.... I didn't know they saw only 171 with 8 psi ..... but if thats the case..... hahn is the @!#$ of the turbo world for j-bodys, bikes, dsm's....... so I don't doubt the 171....... but really knowing that those numbers of 180 with roughly 3.5psi less ..............
???????
and your tq numbers are ALMOST the same as mine ......... with LESS THEN HALF the pounds of boost...........
just really doesn't add up .... using the rule of thumb for boost .....the rule of thumb could be off.... but thats the word on thw street..... unless the stock head on this guys 2200 was flowing like 600 CFM stock ... when I know they run roughly 400 ......
your 50 WHP shy ...... roughly 50 .............
where did that 50 come from ............
again NOT A FLAME .... I'd be a jackass if I was flaming .... I'm not TRUST ME .....
just please let me know where these numbers are coming from..... and you seem VERY confident in these numbers... I don't need to hear "the dyno was set up wrong" .......
just some solid answers that will stop my shock ....... cuz I'm in shock .....

haha yeah, that too... below 10:1= not so good... needs a little fuel tuning but that's on the customer and the dyno shop. As to the people with questions about the results, I'll say its definitely not a friendly dyno (although knowing what correction factor was used as well as the temp/humidity/baro would help that) because I've never seen a Dyno Dynamics give overly friendly numbers, unless the other factors were tampered with, which i'm not accusing anyone of.
One thing could be the tubular manifold design over Hahn's log. Tubular manifolds are well known to make better power than log-style, and I've never really liked how inefficient the design of the 2200 log manis from ANYONE have looked. Another thing is a very well matched turbo. The S60 is a very good match for the ohv, I remember when PJ did a map for it a while back. Another thing that could contribute is the thermal coating that Jtuners talks about on their charge piping.. i doubt it makes a huge difference but it may be something. The even scarier thing is.... think about how much power it might make if they leaned it out some!

i guess if this information is true i'll get this kit and putt it on once i get all the fuel mods that i need
thermal coating and the turbo choice don't give 50whp ..... either would an equal length manifold.......even those things combined wouldn't see you 90whp at 4.6psi
I could see them helping ... maybe freeing up 10 hp or 20 hp.. not whp ..... but hp ......
Thanks for the input ...

dont be so skeptical, why not just accept it for what it is? J-tuners has been around longer then you have, they probably did something you missed! stop bitching.

I strongly beg to differ on the log/tubular debate there is a video of a car testing both at the same psi and he lost 63 whp switching to a log, I debated it here on the org and people proved tha it's possible...
and the guy who lost that much was running something like 10 psi, a lot more, but it's the principle, a lot of small things can equal a lot
