How many psi are safe?

Im looking for someone to tell me with how many psi will my 2.4 litre cavalier with stock interns will be safe. I was thinking about 11 psi?

It depends on your level of tuning. 11 psi is honestly a safe goal with the proper fuel system modifications as well as tuning. In order to run 11 psi, you'll definitely need larger injectors, 30# red tops work great. You'll need an FMU, an adjustable FPR, and something to retard ignition timing like a MSD Boost Timing Master or the MSD Programable DIS-2 ignition setup.

Hi, for the fuel management i have the FMU, the 320 cc fuel injectors, a 255 walbro fuel pump and a super AFC II. But I dont have any timming controler; how much psi will still be safe? Having in mind that I have a stock compresion and really cold spark plugs...
Thanks

I'd say with what you've mentioned you had, 5-7psi would be a safe starting point.

You have an FMU so you have really no need for the SAFC. Sell it iand buy an adjustable FPR. And since you are going to be on your stock ignition maps, i'd say no more than 8 psi.

Just an FYI you could run 100lbs of boost and your car would be fine. people seem to forget so Im gonna say it a bit louder this time

BOOST MAKES HP, HP BREAKS ENGINES. 10 LBS IS DIFFERENT ON MY CAR THEN YOURS MINE MIGHT HOLD TEN AND MAKE 300 HP AND YOU MAY ONLY MAKE 200 AND BE FINE.

thank you and gday

Okay, but hes asking about a stock 2.4, not your car.

I really dont no what is a adjustable FPR. And I have in mind to buy later an apexi Super Ignition timing Controler (SITC), How many psi do you think is save in this stock engine with this timing controler, and if you think it is the proper setting?

ewwww @!#$ creepy. skillz when I origanly wrote that I wrote it to say MY CAR MAY PUSH 10 LBS AND MAKE 250 WHERE AS SKILLZ HAS A MORE BUILT ENGINE SO HE MAKES A LITTLE BIT MORE AT THE SAME BOOST.

but I wasnt sure of the accurcy so I let it go...........can you read minds

i'm kinda curious how he can expect a true answer for psi when he clearly hasnt stated anything about what turbo hes using, what trim it is, or any really critical information, i mean 10psi at 250 cfm is drastically different than 10 psi at 500 cfm so till we know that number we really cant give you an exact psi thats safe.

Oh boy... Why dont we all decide to lose the terms 'psi' and 'cfm' from our collective vocabulary? Jbody.org would be a much better place..

This is to J~, I didnt put that information because I aded lt in another forum and I was thinking this was the same, sorry. The trims are:

HYBRID T3/T4 • T04E TURBOCHARGER • STAGE III WHEEL

.50 A/R COLD
.63 5 BOLT STANDARD HOT SIDE
a.. 3" INLET DIAMETER
b.. 2" OUTLET

.57 COMPRESSOR WHEEL TRIM
.60 A/R COMPRESSOR
.63 A/R TURBINE

lol. without a bit of motor work, you won't spool that turbo until 4 grand anyways.

Different turbo's efficiencies at 10 psi aren't nearly that different.
