Hey guys I have only had my turbo in for 3 months and I blew a seal in the hot side, I pulled it out last night and now I'm just wondering what I should do with it. Its from a exploited racing kit so its brand new, its a Garrett t3 t4, Should I get a hold of him and get him to get garrett to warranty it or should I just bring it to a turbo shop and get it fixed. Does this cost alot of money? If it dosent ill just get it done myself because you guys know how much fun it is to get Brian to take care of something. Thanks
You can send it to Precision Turbo or Limited Engineering (two good good places whom I have delt with in the past) to have your turbo rebuilt. They are authorized Garrett dealers. OR if you know what you are doing, you can rebuild it yourself. But it's going to make you uncomfortable. For example, to separate the center section and the exhaust housing, you have to BEAT on it very hard with a hammer to get it apart, because you have 2 cast iron pieces basically rusted together but not exactly completely rusted. I'd just pay the $200 or something like that, send it in and get it completely rebuilt.
I was a retard, and now I'm permanently banned.
Jeff, send it to western, they couldn't be 'that' much.

I have a spair seal and will replace it for you for shipping both ways plus maybe $50. If it is going to be apart you might as well get bearings too.
Just drop me an e-mail if it interests you.
I know I post a lot for Brian on this site, but he a friend. I'm not an exploited emplyee. I can't honor a warantee or anything. Again though, I would rebuild it for cheap since Brian is a friend.

Hey Jeff, before you put your repaired turbo back on, give us an idea of what you're using for oil restriction on the line coming from your block. Chances are if you arent restricting the oil flow in your Feed line, you will blow your seals again, and costs will add up. Id recommend talking to Steve/stevefire to give you an idea of what he has planned/rigged up for his oil feed restriction, as from what I remember it was parts you could pick up rather cheap at Princess Auto. Another way is to have a fitting filled and then tapped/drilled with a small hole to limit the oil feed. ATPTurbo.com has some great oil restriction items for cheap, and I'd recommend looking into their website if you dont choose to go with Steve's route. Good luck !
