So i got my car back and ready to go to a car show and i took it out for a quick test rip around the block and we got back and the car was smoking like hell and the car was over heating. We figured it was vapor lock and we try to get the lock out and for some reason we cant. So we had decided it was the head and the wierd thing is that we weren't running any boost. So the next week i started taken it apart and i got to the turbo and the downpipe and there's this sludge coating on the exhaust side of the turbo and not on the intake side or the exhaust manifold, so we then concluded that it was the turbo that was causing the smoke,(Which doesnt explain the over heating). So we think that a seal is gone on the turbo and its BRAND NEW garret turbo, so we sent it out to get checked out and they come back and say that they cant find anything wrong with it but " We'll send you a new one anyway". So we get it back and i put it all back together and start up the car and the still smokes but its not over heating, instead i just have no heat in the car. So then we come back to the conclusion that its the Head/ or head gasket. So i rip it apart again to find the same sludge coating on the downpipe and exhaust side of the turbo, and cleaned all the pipes spotless before putting them back on. So we call them and ask them what the hell is going on, and they swear up and down that they sent us a new one, we call bull@!#$ and send it away to another place and they find that a seal is gone on this apparent new turbo. And in the mean time we took apart the head cause we were 99% sure that theres something wrong with the head/or head gasket. So we got the thought of checking the thermostat, i took it out and it was damn near siezed shut, and the head gasket looked fine,so we had the GM service manager come in to see what the problem is and he had no clue what was wrong and told us that these heads have a tendency of warping, so we sent out the head to get checked and we find out that its warped 8 thousands of and inch. So after 7 months of being in my buddies shop and 9 months of being parked(winter) ,we have everything back and i should have my car back by the end of this week, hopefully nothing else happens. And the only good to come out of this other than having a boosted car, is the GM service manager said that he'll probably be able to give me warrenty on the head, even though it has a turbo on it. Sorry that is so long guys i just thought i would let everyone know how my turbo project is going.
sorry to hear about this man was the thermostat realted to the turbo. it sounds like the sluge caused the heat which caused the seisure
