Ecotec M62 Supercharger Near Completion...**PICS**

Well Actually it is done but I'll mention the one problem I'm having at the end...

Had to relocate the cruise control bracket slightly for added length for the cable, for the new throttle body position.

The inlet pressure sensor location on the ion is a perfect spot for your stock GM Map sensor. Even the bracket to hold the sensor fits on the map sensor, although you do have to extend the wiring.

And yes the hood closes

Now onto the current problem. I had the car running and all was well. I had not driven it but it idled and ran smoothly, all was well. While I was adding coolant I had the car running for about 10 mins trying to get it to circulate. I started hearing a ticking noise which happened to be one of the ribs on the drive belt comming loose. Well I did notice some small damage to the belt before putting it on. I let it run to see how badly it would affect the belt and it shredded itself all at once.

The cause/problem is that everything on the Ion enging uses a 5 rib pulley. I used all the parts I could including the ion alternator. So my A/C compressor and Crank pulley are 4 rib pulleys, so they are cutting the belt. I would assume that the GM S/C kit belt is a 4 rib version of this belt but I doubt I can order it. Autozone and murrays cannot get these belts either because it is a dual sided belt.

So I either have to use the crank pulley off the redline (no big deal) but also manage to change a/c compressor or just use the clutch/puelly off the redline engine or find a 4 rib belt. I don't have the A/C pump so I'd rather get the 4 rib belt.

In any event that's the only thing holding me up....

Things left to install are:

Later once it's up and running I'll make it intercooled... water pump has been ordered (one on the engine I bought was damamged).

The belt may be a setback... I was hoping to have all this done wednesday but I'm not sure just yet.

Use the ion crank pulley and loose the A/C, might change belt length though.

Good job.

Get that thing to a dyno when the problems are fixed. I would love to see some numbers. I assume since you don't have the boost gauge in you don't know how much boost you are seeing correct?

I gotta question for you.....AS soon as GM releases the 2.2 charger...im going to be getting it....BUT i do have a carbon fiber invader hood so im worried about it hitting the charger. How much room do u have between the Charger and the hood? Any IdeaS?

Really nice work, with the intercooler and e-manage you should get much better results than the factory s/c ecotec upgrade that some are waiting for.

Airtonics, the stock belt in the 2.4L GM SC is a 10 ribs 1851mm (72.87") (4100729 - 10PK1851) long belt cuted by half, then is a custom 5 rib belt.

If you can't find the belt you are needing, try to measure it and go to the Gates belts catalog. There you can find a giant pdf archive with an interchange belt database by long and ribs. It is really useful. Also you can use the online interchange database to find it in other brands, like Goodyear Gatorback.

I hope this info help you.

Regards,

Eliot, the redline has a two sided belt so autozone/murrayrs or any other place won't carry it.

I purchased a new belt and carefully cut a rib off of it. It seems to be working out very nicetly thus far.

So everything should go as planned, emanage will be installed tomorrow

Oh and S/C whine sounds pretty good

Jon,

there are double sided gatorback belts. might want to look into a 4-rib one if possible.

Also, you didn't tell everyone who's uber supreme and found your pot o gold for ya

See you in 8 hours. Countdown to Ecotec bliss.....
