Possibly the map sensor???

Okay so since I pulled my car out of storage it has had problems with bogging!! It didn't do this before I put it away. So I thought maybe it would be the fuel filter or the gasoline wasn't stabilized enough?! So I changed the fuel filter, flushed the tank, and ran fuel injector cleaner through it.

Well today I got in it, and slammed on the gas. No bog. IT went and went. I had to stop at a light down the street. I looked down at the temp. gauge and noticed it was at operating temp. Slammed on the gas again and ..... BOG!!!!

Is it safe to say that the map sensor is seeing boost???

Thanks everyone

To all those who hate on domestics;
just remember that when I'm flying bye !!

What RPM were you at when you slammed on the gas and it bogged?

The only instance of my car seeing the same type of problem is when I washed my engine bay a couple weeks ago and forgot to cover the throttle body with a bag. The TPS got soaked because it catches all of the water being on the bottom side of the throttle body with the gm supercharger.

I changed out the TPS for another that wasn't water logged and the same thing was happening...just not every single time I stepped on the gas. Later that night, I pulled the negative terminal on the battery and let the ECU reboot overnight. After driving around normally without boost for a couple miles to let the ECU re-learn the car, everything returned to normal.

I see your car is boosted. Probably why you posted this here and not the maintanence forum where it should be. Regardless, if your MAP sensor is crapping out, keep in mind you're really lean and you shouldn't be slamming the throttle like that. Grab your GM service manual and start testing sensors. If you have an OBD scan tool, use that first to determine if there's any pre-emptive codes being tripped on the ECU. Another easy thing to check if you still suspect the map sensor is the vacuum hose on it. Check for cracks and signs of leakage.

A little more specifics on the "BOG" would help too. It is just an occasional misfire or does the engine completely stop firing when you hit the throttle? Does the engine go back to normal when you're not on the throttle? Specifics are crucial to getting advice on your problem.

yes check the power going to the TPS.... and no, your MAP sensor will never read boost.
