SAFC compensate for FMU???
Monday, May 09, 2005 4:40 PM
There is the question I am running a 57 trim and a Eco motor I was wondering if the SAFC can compensate for the FMU so I can get rid of it or just run a 1:1 w/o the disk in it. I guess just raise the percentage on the AFC.
Experienced opinions please cause I don't like detonation or leaning out.
Alos, if anyone has the wire instructions, I just got mine and no instructions came with it, and search only gives me Trouble shooting??

Thanks

if the safc had a vacuum line input to read boost pressure levels and increase fuel delivery equally, then I would see how it could replace the FMU.. however, IIRC the safc does not have a vacuum input, and cannot increase delivery as per boost pressure levels. The FMU also raises fuel pressure in the fuel rail, thus increasing fuel delivery as per boost pressure levels.

If you had bigger injectors being controlled by the safc....the safc could bump up Fuel % every 200 or is it 500 RPM increments...why wouldnt that work instead of raising fuel pressure with a FMU..

anyhow Listening.....

cuz there is not enough adjustment. i was rockin 370's on 5 psi and at 50% increase at hi it was leaning out so hardcore. i then twisted the FMU some and wala, 11.6:1 AFR. much better then 18:1.

its alot to compensate for with the safc, your really better of using the fmu and then fine tuning with the safc.

Ok that was the question. lol
I thought that it might be a little too much to do for the AFC.
Now does anyone know what wires are for what??
Thanks.

Exactly once hooked up go to the dyno, find where you are leaning out, and make adjsutments there.
