Now ive read alot of posts for the ecotecs and been bum-barded with all the information about fuel mangment for ecotecs..and cant seem to grasp and idea for my setup.
Now i know theres not really a whole lot of options out there for us Ecotecs owner. I own a 04 cav with the 03+ style fuel rail setup and was planing on running about 160-175 hp turbo setup on mine. Ive seen Rc injectors will work (310cc) but you have to splice them in cause of the plug. I heard the 2.4 s/c injectors work also but are prob hard ot get a set of. Even with those i would be running rich at idle and will be rough i amagin?!?!
Now for what hp i want to gain what would be the cheapest and easiest route to take for fuel mangment. I have a cartech #2025 FMU already and plan on getting a walbro intank pump. Other then that what should i do??

Those words should never be used in a sentance together.
Cheapest would probably be the route I'm going:
SAFC-2: $260
Cartech Adjustable FMU: $180
Accell Adjustable FPR #74565: $90
+ Injectors

that sounds like a feesible route to take in my case...but what injectors can i get thats a straight shot swap for my 03+ rail that i can actually order from a company and i dont have to go on a scavenger hunt for or modify ??
the adj. fpr is good to trim your pressure for the bigger injectors to keep from rough idle correct?? how does one install that on stock fuel rail?
oh ok...i didnt know that..so these injectors w/ clips would be a perfect swap in my rail ? -->
injectors
you think those would be good enough to supply for 160-175 whp? not too big not too small..think i would still need a FPR to maintain not going rich while idleing? or should i get the 310s?
yeah i guess your right..i was just going in comparrison of the stock ecotec injectors (19lb/hr) ....so i would deff need the FPR with those bad boys...thanks for the info shifted!

You might be able to save yourself some money on that SAFC-2 if you check on ebay. I know its iffy when buying electronic stuff...especially something that controls important sh*t like your fuel, but mine came in 2 days and it seems ok. Got it for 220. Hope that helps.

that totals $530, if you want the cheapest way, e-manage is only like 440 and can adjust timing, but it is overall more complicated to install.

E-Manage = $300
Support tool = $100
Injector harness = $50
Laptop = $1000
Unless you have a laptop already, its an incredibly expensive system. Personally I don't have a laptop (yet), so the SAFC is definately cheaper than the E-manage. Yes, you could buy the Profec-01, but that thing isn't cheap either.

If i use a fuel pressure guage with a wideband as reference tools..would i need to use a SAFC?
FPR sets base pressure, you could tune it with the FMU, but I like the SAFC because it allows you to run a lot larger injectors, and be able to get a decent idle, since you put your base fuel pressure for large injectors to like 33 psi, then pull some more fuel through the safc, and get a good idle.

Dont do what I did and buy a non adjustable FMU.
Im so glad I went with the EManage.
I say those RC Injectors and the SAFC with an Adj FPR and youd be set.
Engines are not cheap. Wait a little while to get a better fuel setup.
O noes!
Why would you need an FPR if you already have the cartech fmu?? If HAHN will sell it separetly they make a beautiful little billet adapter piece you put in place of the stock FPR, because the cartech handles FMU AND AFPR.
FstCavZ24 (Turbo ECO), can you post a picture of that little billet piece that is what I might be looking for?? and a price thank you.

why even mess with a fmu and fpr just get a walbro, safc-2, and bigger injectors. or do those 3 and add a fpr but i dont see why you would need a fmu if you have an safc. That could be an extra $180 towards a msd dis2.
Not to piss in any cereal bowls or whore the post, but my bias persuades me to mention that nobody here has mentioned the cheapest fuel management solution yet.
