i was wondering if it is possible to loose a vacuum source, this is the reason i ask, when i first got my car turbo'd the bov was rediculously loud, a really loud whistle, and my car was limited to 9.5psi, (from the wastegate spring) and also when i first hooked up my boost gauge it didnt work, even though it was ran right and the line wasnt kinked anywhere, the boost gauge would never go over to the boost side, its a vacuum/boost gauge, but then all of a sudden with out me messing with anything one day i started the car and it dropped down to 24 in. hg, and so i wanted to see if it was actually working so i go on the highway and punched it and it was the fastest i had ever felt it, i look at the boost gauge and it was up to 17psi, so i got off of it immediately it was also lean, very lean. at idle my afr jumps around between 13.5 and 15.5, but usually its in the 14s. but im wondering why my bov is not making any noise, and the waste gate does not appear to be opening if i made that much boost. does anyone have any suggestions, on the boost gauge normally it stays around 23 in hg at idle

Check for vacuum leaks, maybe a hose popped off.

if it wasn't opening you would get compressor surge and you would hear it . what BOV do you have my buddy has a RFL and his little horn fell off and its not very loud anymore

i think i am getting compressor surge, it makes a chh chh chh chh (sounds kinda cool lol, but im sure its not good)sound when i let off the gas, i have a hks ssqv bov,

Compressor surge usually sounds like a dog barking, if you;re building more than a few pounds of boost. Good way to blow up the turbo in short order.

a dog bark? I have never heard that one, do u have a video clip or something to show me what that sounds like, every keeps telling me that what i have now is compressor surge and i can build up to 17 psi,(well thats the furthest i have taken it, it may go higher)

Is your wastegate connected to the charge pipe? (not after the throttle body)
What I would do is disconnect all vacuum accessories except for the boost gauge. Then add them in one by one. It's possible that your BOV is damaged and is leaking vacuum. If your boost gauge is connected to that same line, the reading will be skewed.

my wastegate is on the exhaust manifold, it is the one from vulcan turbo. the bov is on the tube that come from the compressor to the intercooler, it goes from the back of the motor, behind the battery tray down through the fender and into the intercooler. the bov is right next to the battery. i thought about changing all the vacuum lines i went out and bought some yesterday, do u guys think its safe to run my boost gauge off the vacuum line that goes to the fpr (i dont have it like that right now)

well i found out why my bov and wastegate were not working, and why i was getting strange readings from the boost gauge lol, the people who installed the turbo kit used a plastic vacuum "T" for the line that went into the waste gate and over to the bov, well after a little driving the heat from the manifold, caused the plastic t to get soft and the pressure from the vacuum line squeezed it close so no vacuum was going to the wastegate, then the other side of the t was almost completely closed also so there was nothing getting to the bov either lol, so i swapped it out with a brass and just hooked up the bov, got it up to about 4 grand and my rediculously loud bov sound was back, i think i grinned from ear to ear, so i went back home and put the other t in for the waste gate and boost gauge, and i found out for the first time what spring was in my waste gate, it was only a 6psi spring, which is kinda odd since the guy that dynoed it first told me i was making 9.5psi, so i turned the boost up to 10psi and went out for a drive, i found a SRT8 Challenger, for some reason he would not launch off the light he always wanted to roll, we both were side by side neither of use pulled an inch from 1st to 4th, he just smiled and said "thats impressive" ......i just had that after sex feeling lol,
