Well I got to the track for the first time this summer. I'm happy with the results for now. I seemed to be running rich, A/F dropped into the 10's once in a while and seems to stay steady on 11.2-11.3. I called the guy that tuned it and the end of the month we are gonna lean it out a bit more to see if that will help, I want to get to the 200whp mark.
I'm thinking about throwing a bigger meth nozzle in but don't want to go too big to cause it to bog on the low end. I am running a 175ml/min nozzle now and I think the kit came with 2 bigger sizes. I think the next size it came with was a 225ml/min nozzle so I may try that and see if it helps with cooling it down and giving me better numbers and 1/4 mile. Anyways, here are my results:
60 ft - 2.114
1/8 ET - 9.467
1/8 MPH - 75.25
1/4 ET - 14.73
1/4 MPH - 92.40
Hoping I can get the car running a little better and gonna try and get to a better track, the track here runs 2-3 tenths slower. Anyways, I'll update with new dyno numbers and 1/4 mile times when i get everything done.
perfect. right at where it should be for the power level.
go back and get more practice. hell if you got a 2.1 60 the first time out your doing very well. what tires were used?
PFFT secret cams?! pm me if you want a real upgrade.
I tried out my BFG Drag Radials for the first time...I should have gone with a full slick, had no problem breaking loose in 1st and once in a while it would spin a little in the beginning of second as well. My mph increased 3-4mph up top on this track to about a 93mph pass most of the time. The other track I ran last year I was doing 93-94mph passes with a lot less done and I was running street tires and no LSD and still pulled off a 15.0 on that track. So I figure I would pick up 3-4mph on top on my speed last year. My reation times were all over the place but I didn't really care cause I was just mainly working on my 60 ft. I can't wait to get to a good track, get my A/F better, and get the bigger nozzle in. I think a 14.3-14.4 could be achieved, have to wait and see I guess.
I have it coming on at around 4-4.5psi...I just found the other nozzle in my box and it looks like its purple which is supposedly the 225ml/min which is prefect. Gonna try that size out and see how that helps.
I agree spray meth sooner. Like 2psi. Also the BFG's should be more than enough for your power level. What psi, what kind of burnout were you doing etc..
FU Tuning
When I get the larger nozzle in I will turn the boost switch for it to come on sooner. I started at 25psi and worked my way down to 17 or 18psi, can't remember which..I wasn't really sure how low to take them. My mph didn't change so I may have been able to get away with 15-16psi. I'm gonna play with things the next time I get out, see if I can get my 60ft down.
Went back to the track tonight...no real change, shaved a hundreth off
60 ft - 2.114
1/8 ET - 9.4507
1/8 MPH - 76.81
1/4 ET - 14.72
1/4 MPH - 92.82
My last three passes were very consistent, 14.76, 14.73, 14.72 all with a 2.11 60 ft. I still haven't put the larger nozzle in yet but gonna do that soon (got some sealant/adhesive for the install). Just a fun fact about meth. I ran a pass and then checked my meth and it was empty. Filled it up and picked up 2mph up top. Thought that was kinda interesting how much of a difference the meth made. Anyways, it looks like my 60ft is gonna be handy to a 2.11. I am gonna drop the tire psi down to 15 the next time I go and see if that makes any difference (had it at 16psi tonight). Can't wait till the 27th to see if I can pick any whp up on the dyno with tuning.
for the meth/water mix i ran methanol that was in the freezer for a day and had 2L pop bottles full of it in a cooler when i went to the track and seemed to help alot, a bag of ice on the s/c runners in between the blower/head was great as well
