S/C Install
Tuesday, July 07, 2009 1:06 PM
Alright so I'm ordering the S/C very soon and I'm still debating on whether or not to have GM do it or my mechanic buddies and I do it...
I know some of the obvious pros and cons...I was gonna give my buddys a 100 bucks each anyways...so thats 200 automatically.
I'm still finding out what GM wants to charge but they prolly will warranty everything unlike my friends...lol
I'm prolly going with the GM tune for now as well....

????

Thanks

You have some knowledgeable guys in Florida. They'll do it.

The parts are all bolt on so it would be hard to mess up anything right?

Wiring is a PITA.

You have to sand some of the head off so the new tensioner will work.

So besides that...its pretty basic then? Im getting installation quotes ranging from an hour to 2 days...lol

2 days? Yeah if you're using a spoon to install it and no tools otherwise.

Do it yourself, this way you'll know how to take it off if you ever want to do anything around it. Experience negates fear.

It's very easy to install if you can do a clutch or install a stereo.....I think you can handle it in your drive way....Hell I worked on mine for 2 days for a little bit after work taking my time totaling maybe 4hours with routing he pump hoses ect.....I spent more time chasing down a replacement upper hose than actual install time.
