I'm currently stripping the old L61 block to be sent out with this load of goodies to the machine shop. I have a fidanza flywheel thats waiting or a new spec stage 3+ clutch (the strongest clutch currently available for the eco.. rated at 490tq).
in the picture from top to bottom:
-Darton M.I.D. (modular integraed deck) sleeve kit
-Wiseco 8.9:1 pistons
-eagle rods
-eagle crank (2.2 w/ reluctor ring)
to top off the block will be some ARP headstuds and I'm unsure of the headgasket and a few other details.. I'm still looking for a machine shop to install the darton sleeves and possibly a complete assembly, balance and blueprint to the short block
there's a few other loose ends with the block that need to be taken care of, but I was bored and felt like sharing.
I won't state my power goals, but I can assure you, its ludicrous.

D A M N ! ! !
Not much to say really other than that!
Eh...old man with a Corvette now...it was bound to happen sooner rather than later right?
You are soon to be my new hero............... and then I am going to copy everything you do
Well, the sleeves will take you into the stratosphere for power. I was thinking about getting my block sleeved and then I found out what it costs...... yikes. I'll never be making 600+ hp so oh well.
Please tell me your not going to spend the money to sleeve your block and then use HPT to control fuel and spark..... I'll cry.
Gonna be a sick build dude ......

look up Spectre EMS.. its based heavily on megasquirt, but in a more complete package and bit more expensive.
thats what I plan on using.
HPT as well as the factory ECU are both taking back seats when this engine gets installed in the skwirl.
after the bottom end is complete, I plan on modifying the transmission and freshening it up.. then the head.. then finally, the turbo and fuel systems.
I don't want to discuss the power target, but trust me.. the sleeves will be absolutely necessary.
are these sleves traiditional style? or are they the kind that receed into the head?
also. are you sure those pistons are up to the task?
you didnt give a power goal, but if your sleeves are "a nesscary Requirment" then youll be over or around 600 (I know the cranks at 5 and the sleeves went at 6 I belive when gm did the build book. are you sure the weisco's are up to the task. turbo tech didnt give me the rating when I bought mine, and I didnt bother looking becuase I knew they were higher then I was going to go. But Im not so sure there much past 600, same goes for the rods.
I might be wrong however.
also you said nothing about the oiling system, whats the plans for that?
either way I cant wait to see it come together

well its not a 2.4 (=P) and as per GM, the OEM oiling system should be good to 600hp. The only upgrade I plan on is bates engineering hardened gears.
if it can't do it, a dry sump is going on from www.drysump.com. they make kits for the ecotec with a pan, pump, everything you need... they made the kit for the cobalt time attack car.
wiseco rods are rated at 550hp.. I guess we'll see.
not sure about the pistons.. but again, je/wiseco/diamond are all listed so we'll find out
the MID sleeve kit is zero deck height
i may need race gas because of the high compression, but I wanted to keep this engine to available off the shelf parts.. nothing too exotic.
I've seen stock sleeved l61's into the 650-700whp power level..
Blew it up, build numbers coming soon
