Mitsubishi TE04H

I pulled a turbo out of a lebaron a few weeks ago and I was wondering what exhaust manifold I should get to use this on my 03 Sunfire's ECOTEC? The part number that reads on the turbo is: 4448992 Mitsubishi TE04H it's not a huge turbo but it's a start. A friend of mine has about 5 or 6 of these laying around the garage. Twin charge maybe? I'm no turbo expert, but he knows a lot more than I do. He said I need to find an exhaust manifold that would fit up to the flange on this thing. Here's some pics if it helps any:

The resolution sucks on my camera-phone... I took better pics with my fiancee's digital camera but I have no idea where she put the damn thing, lol...

The second one down is the flange you need and its pretty funky looking so I'm not sure if you are going to find a pre-made manifold to fit the Ecotec. Maybe you could have a custom one made or buy one the ebay manifolds and modify it to include this flange.

As for it being too small for your engine....that is your call depending on what you want. I used a turbo that was too large for my old Ecotec and hated the lag(t3/t04e,60/.63 trim). Now I drive a WRX with a very small turbo on it(stock TD04 on a 2.5L) and love it as a daily driver. Instant spool and torque, decent mid-range and then it dies top-end. Its very well worth the low top-end to be able to go when I want to.

Cool thanks man I appreciate it. I'll prob get that and a fab it to an ebay manifold like you said. I'm looking to build my own turbo setup with this small one for now and eventually move up to a bigger turbo. As for what Gélinas Robert was saying about it being too small to be worth doing, would it be better with two of these in a twin turbo setup? I could easily get another of the exact same turbo from my friend if I needed to. I just want to get a little boost running until my done building up the internals to handle more boost with a bigger turbo. Twin turbo setups seem like a royal pain in the ass though from what I've been reading in other threads, but I am half tempted to try it out since we've got a bunch of these sitting around the garage.

If you are eventually planning on going to a larger turbo, you might consider holding off on all the fab work for this one. Quite a few things(injectors and other fuel goodies, new manifold, new downpipe, external wastegate, flanges, piping for wastegate dump.....etc.) that cost a decent amount of $$ will depend on how large of a turbo you are running. Unless you have a hook-up on things, you might want to hold off and save up your cash for your final build.

I'm not trying to talk you out of boosting it....just trying to save you some dinero on building it twice. Either way, good luck with it!!! That boosted J-body list keeps growing!!
