Fuel pump woes.....
Saturday, April 21, 2007 11:52 AM
Any one got any Ideas or pics on there intank walbros...Recently my car has been stalling and leaving my wife stranded when it gets near the 1/4 tank now (we installed it about 15k miles ago). This happened a long long time ago once, but then ran fine. But the last 4 weeks it happend twice now. I remeber when me and my bro installed it , there was a little hose that ran on the side of the cup and up to the fule pump and connected to a nipple on the stock one...and the walbro didnt have this nipple, at the time...me and my brother took a brass nipple like fitting and jamed it in the hole on the walbro..im thinking it got rattled out and thats my problem....

If i cant get this thing fixed im thinking about taking it out and replace it with the stock one and running a inline. Also anyone got any good in-line pumps they reconmend that will perform about the same as the walbro 255? Im only running 5 PSI still, with 310cc injectors.

Any Ideas??

Did you do any modifications to the cup at all?

Well, if you decided to go with another walbro.. Get the GTP install kit with it.. There are no modifications at all that you have to do to install this kit to our stock cup.. You dont have to cut it,, Ive been below a 1/4 and no fuel cut..

I had similiar problems and solved them temporarily by never running less than 1/2 tank of fuel(which is a PITA). The pump which was also the Walbro 255 finally went and I replaced it with a Granatelli 255 unit from Summit Racing. I never noticed any of the Walbro problems with this unit but I also didn't run it as long as I did the Walbro.

What is exactly the GTP kit? Im almost 100% sure i got that extra kit for it...i remeber when i ordered the pump I paid extra for the kit...but what is the weird thing.....when i first installed it a while ago i never got fuel cuts. Only untill recently ../shrug

However this Sunday we are gonnna drop the tank and take a look and see whats going on in there..and hopefully solve whatever the problem is.

Well, on the GTP pump the opening ont he bottom(where the sock mounts to) is about the size of a quarter compared to that of a walbro that I brought specifically for my 2.4, it was the size of a dime. Thats bigger, also the kit that came with it was 2 wires that plugs right into our stock pump, it also came with the baffle hose because more than likely one would tear that taking it off the stock one. Below is the place where I purchaced it, its here in Ohio locally for me..

Look how big the hole is that the red thing is covering up.. Compared to other walbros..

Click on intense store on the left, then GM3800 SERIES 2 and 3, then click in fuel system.. The kit I have is WFP-169. For 124.99
