I have a '91 Chevy Cavalier Z24 manual 3.1L. I found a 3.4L in a '91 Chevy Lumina Z34 automatic. What I am wondering is will my standard transmission fit on the 3.4L engine. Plus I also need a turbo (twin turbo if I can but I'm not greedy) (model manufacturer and number please) for the 3.4L engine. The only thing is I only want a basic turbo because I can't afford to totally revamp my motor to accept a high performance turbo. But if I HAVE to change some things than that will have to be ok. Just please also tell me what I have to change to accept the turbo. I know I am asking for alot but anyone that can help thank you very much in advance for all of your time and assistance.

The engine question should I get a 3800 series supercharged motor and etc..
Search around for motor swaps for your particular car.
Twin turbo ?
3.4 DOHC is almost to large, and with all there "problems" ( i like the motors) in a J-body it may be hard to change the timing belts.....
if i had a 2ed gen once more, i would build it for boost, and turbo it.
custom cross over pipe, use the FRT EXT manifold on the back and frount.... and you got your turbo manifold.... get the idea.
FYI the GM mini vans all had forged cranks OE......

Hey man for all the hassle you might as welll do what I'm doing with my and put a 3800 s/c v6 from a newer grand prix. You have boost and your 5spd will bolt up to the 3800 you just need to get a machined flywheel and a way better clutch. Good luck with whatever you decide.

Yea look up" Raven" in the members arae his car has gone thru 3 stages from the original motor..
True raven already has a series II 3800 s/c motor in his car. But his being a third gen makes it a little different. Our second gen cars already came with a factory v6. Making our front end a little stronger and easier to install this motor. Plus if you want to go turbo someday its as easy as modifying the superchager case and getting a block off plate for the snout and routing your piping. There's lots of possibilities with this motor. Plus you have the option of using obd-1 and obd-2. There is more hassle in setting the car up with obd-2 but in the end from a tuning stand point it's deffinately the way to go. I'm going to be making my own dash set up with autometer gauges but you could go to the wreckers and use a grand prix cluster. Just remember that there is going to be a lot of wiring and that the rad cradle will need some extra strengthening. Raven has some tears in his to prove it....

What is the factory horse power rating for the 2.8 0r 3.1? Do you want to turbo those motors or go a different route?
I personally would go the 3800 series turbo, what a hell of a ride.
Just remember thta everything on most cars will need to be modified=cash....
the "x" motor was the worst engine gm ever designed. Dont waste your time and money swapping that in there. get a 3400 sfi and turbo that. you wont be disappointed.
