First, let me say, i
DID SEARCH multiple times for a topic like this and nothing helpful came up.
Ok, so heres the scenario: my friend has an 2004 ecotec cavalier. he recently bought the entire GM supercharger kit from the site i forgot but have seen mentioned here before. the kit was 2800$ shipped and came with everything to bolt it on.
we spent a day installing the s/c. made sure we followed the directions on the cd exactly.

heres the problem:
at idle, the car runs fine.....just like stock....rpm and everything is fine. then when you floor it into hight RPM (above 4k) it LOVES the boost and the sc whines so nice.
ok but when i first give it gas the car bogs and almost dies. i have to launch at like 3k to keep the engine alive. if i barely touch the gas the car shakes and dies.

ok: so we checked all the vacuum lines and i believe they are all correct.
we changed the spark plugs.
it has no exhaust or header.....could this be causing the bogging and dying?
i dont hear any combustion or bad noises.....it sounds like a healthy engine, it just dies when given gas
when i stand by the muffler it kind of sounds like it is misfiring. could 1 of the injectors the kit came with been bad?
there isnt a check engine light either....it has come on before, but rarely...whatever it is, its not throwing a CEL.

thanks for anyone who helps. my friend has had to leave his car at my house now in california while he goes back to texas tomorrow because he is deploying to iraq for a year. i was hoping to get it running before he left but i dont think thats going to happen.

what reflash? i wasnt aware i needed a reflash for the kit.....i know it says its recommended but ive had people tell me its not needed to run correctly.
and are you talking about the ECU relfash or PCM? how much will that cost me?

Wow you did not get the reflash?!
When they say "recommended" they mean do it so your car wont go boom!
does it matter that the IAT sensor in the intake tube isnt plugged in? the kit comes with the connector to bypass it but we didnt plug it into the new harness cause the car wont start......and its also not plugged into the intake pipe....its just hanging in the engine bay.
would that matter?

and also: is the map sensor the one that comes with the kit where you have to put the new end on it? its not either of the 2 sensors on the TB right?
and in the TB spacer the kit comes with should i plug the hole that is for automatic trannys? it says to plug it if the car is a manual (which it is), but it seems to run better unplugged.

the TMAP in the kit on the 03-05 seams to not run well with out the reflash
the 02's seam to be ok with it connected
you need the reflash for everything to work properly
the new iat is part of the new tmap , so nothing needs to be plugged into the intake
the TMAP is in the intake right infornt of the injector , and yes its the 1 you modified the harness for
ok so i just went out and unplugged the MAP. it runs better, and has smooth acceleration. but is it safe to drive temporarily with the MAP unplugged? what does the MAP do exactly anyways?
and the sc doesnt whine as much with the MAP unplugged....is that normal?

.... Wow.
I had to read this twice to make sure it wasn't one of Dave's April Fool's jokes.
....but... Wow. Put the tools down and back away from the boost, man. And pick up the instruction manual and read it front to back 20 times before you touch the tools again.
**PUT THE 1 BAR MAP SENSOR BACK IN**

Yes.
H.O.N.D.A = Hold On Not Done Accelerating
yeah seriously. didn't you get the instructions with the charger. it says the car should not even be started until the PCM is reflashed by the dealer. i towed my car in
is there anything else i need to know when i talk to the dealership?

im the install instructions it tells you to leave the MAP unpluged , then to get it to the dealer for the reflash
with out the map connected it runs on a map that keeps it on the rich side , as well as the larger injectors
i wouldnt be running it hard with out the reflash , id go straight to the dealer and get the reflash done , to much playing around with out the reflash , youll destroy the cat converter from all the extra fuel
print out a copy of the instructions , and go to the dealer and get the reflash , and make sure you can get to the plug for the map , so they can plug it backin
does that supercharger kit also work on the automatics? because i know hahn racecraft's turbo kits dont work for automatics... i still havent gotten a straight answer out of them on why it wont work. so i figure id ask here.
yes the eco s/c will work with automatics
phlatcav , has a auto trans in his cav with it
