I got a 2.0 ohc turbo+manifold today.
Monday, July 10, 2006 2:02 PM
did anybody try to actually fit the manifold to the head yet? so far it looks like it would directly bolt on to my 2200. I was pretty sure it would never bolt on before i got it.. but now i'm totally unsure.

sorry for a triple post but is the turbo worth keeping if it has a bit of side play? when i shift it to the side it would still spin freely but the side play is noticeable. can i put a bearring kit in it? or any other parts i should check out? i know it's cheap but would it cost too much to rebuild it?

That turbo is too small, even for the 2.0 it was small...

And yeah, a quick search would have told you the OHC manifold would never work on the OHV.

I guess the injectors wont fit mine either, huh?

it's ar .48, actually I doubt it would die at the top end anyways because the redline is like 5800 and the engine doesn't have much power to begin with... but you can always change the turbo later if you wanted to do it as a project right? or until my 2200 dies... then I can just swap in my quad4.

No, injectors won't work. Your redline is not 5800, its 6500, I think with that turbo on your engine all you'll make is hot air, and not much power.

my fuel cutoff is at 5800

That turbo was way too small for even the 2.0 sohc T which only had 8:1 compression. Even the whopping 70 (maybe) hp that the engine made outside of boost was enough to fully spool that turbo barely off of idle.

Go big.

I got the 2.0 ar .48 turbo for $30... I could sell it to a honda guy for alot more. I wanted to get a 2.2 or 2.6 chrysler turbo charger. or the 2.2 mazda/ford turbo.

all those turbo's are way to small...the are uneffiecient even on your 2.2 OHV..

and no you couldn't sell the turbo for much more than what you bought it. most people research stuff before they buy it, and anyone who researches even a little bit could tell that that turbo is to small for the 2200, let alone any honda out there

I'm just concerned if I just bolt it on... will my car work? because I can always get another one later to upgrade. the turbo flange is simple to weld on because its easy to get the inside too. but with that aside, will my car work?

if your asking this question, probably not

I have that same T25 turbo on my 2.2 . I've enjoyed driving the car for maybe 2 years now. I'm currently aiming for more than 8 psi so the turbo's going to be replaced with a larger one.

The same size turbo with different A/R's is used on Nissan Sylvia 2.0, installed by Nissan at the factory. The OE Sunbird turbo is cranking 17 psi boost in my Sunbird.. Datalogs from the Sunbird show that short and medium duration runs with that level boost do not cause the turbo + intercooler to become heat saturated.

For $30, you can put together a car and have fun at low psi. But if / when you decide to go for more boost you'll end up rebuilding or replacing some of the parts you just installed to use the T25.

That's just my experience.

it may be a small turbo but it's better than buying a computer fan.

where is the bypass valve on the turbo 2.0 intake? does it even come with one?

There's no bypass valve on the 2.0 turbo intake.

The ports and TB on that intake are smaller than the 2.2 or 2200 ports / TB. If you succeed in connecting the manifold to the head you will be restricting airflow. Somehow it seems backward to lower power output in order to add boost to raise it again. Don't let the fact that it says "TURBO" throw ya. It's really nothing spectacular.

What about RPM staged computer fans?

I dont want to put the 2.0 intake in mine. I just wanted to get a bypass valve.

and I have a question about the wastegate. is it supposed to close and open easily? I dont understand how the internal wastegate fully works yet.
I know it lets exhaust gases escape to lower the output on the turbo but does it control boost too?

on the engine the charge pipe went strait to the intake manifold from the turbo... so I was confused about it having some sort of bypass inside the manifold. I'm also disapointed it didn't have an intercooler either. but i guess i have to get a valve for mine. I also have an oil cooler that was $2 at my local auto wreckers so should that hook up from the turbo oil outlet before going back into the oil pan? and I know its also water cooled is there anything special i should do with the watering?
