Turbo, stock exaust

alright im about to buy a turbo kit cuz im gettin a good deal on it. Now this is the question.

I have stock exaust still (the 2.4L dual exaust) is it alright to install the turbo kit with that or should i just hold up on installing the turbo til i get the exaust. I am not in a huge rush. it would only take me about a month to get the exaust. i was just wondering if it was alright to jsut go ahead and install the turbo.

I would say just wait till you can do the exhaust at the same time because then you can get the fitment of the downpipe, etc correct.

I think you'll be ok as long as you don't mind having to lift your car back up and messing with the downpipe.

I ran my Hahn kit with the stock exhaust for a while. It took about a month due to backorders to get my mufflers and cat. You CAN do it, but once you get your exhaust done it will feel like a MIRACLE!! You just lose performance due to the tiny crap out back.

bah! who needs exhaust. Just throw the turbo on and run the test pipe until you can save for exhaust. It'll be loud as hell and may not even be able to hear the turbo spooling . even thinking about putting it on the stock stuff is wrong. all wrong.
Thats what im doing at least. Drive my g/f crazy enough that she wont want to ride in my car and just let me drive hers when we go out. Save my gas and mileage.

my buddy used the stock cat back exhuast on his turbo'd z24. he had a electric cut out in the down pipe. that was the sweetest. stock looking / sounding as not to get attention.

*whoops. this should have been with the last one: If he has the downpipe all made up for his stock exhaust and plans on going with a custom exhaust later on where is the issue? It will be a custom exhaust. Fit the new exhaust to the current downpipe.

I have 2.5" mandrel from the turbo back to the rear axel where it converts to stock muffler.

its super quiet and still spools to full boost below 3000 rpm.

I am wondering if it gave me an increase in tq because my dyno numbers were crazy wierd.

i love the stock muffler. super quiet. so noone knows whats coming. My bov also does not vent to atmosphere so its quieter also.

Wouldnt custom work be needed to get the stock system attached to the turbo?

The turbo added all that extra torque. I know you like the quiet, but you'd see a lot more power if you swapped to a straight through muffler.
