2002 factory radio in a 1996

I'm thinking about getting a factory radio from a 2002 Cavalier to put in my wife's 1996 Cavalier. Would this be a simple plug-in or would it involve some rewiring?

you'd have to find a class 2 male harness, and I'm pretty sure you'd have to do some interesting electrical work, cause when I was removing mine and checking wires, I found no 12v accessory hot, just a 3v (it fluctuated, but stayed right near 3v). I think your best bet is to ask an actual chevy tech if you don't wanna risk f***ing up the 02 radio.

It won't work. You have to have a signal from the computer that tells the radio that it's in the right car. Sorry. Also, I think the older cars had 1.5 din openings, and the new ones have 2 din openings. If the radio doesn't work, your best bet would be to go aftermarket. Pioneer makes a decent 1.5 din head unit.

I'm 90% sure the class 2's are din and a half too.

My 01 is 2 din. I had 2 units installed in there at one time. A Pioneer DVD player and a Pioneer head unit.

The hole in the dash is 2 din. The Opening in the bezel is din and a half.

Moot point, it will never power on. You need the pcm and bcm from a 2000+ car, plus the matching serial number for it to work.

That involves re-wiring the entire car with a 2000+ computer, fuel pump, headlights, etc.. engine harness... cluster.. oh yeah, fuel level sensor is different.. 00+ is plastic tank, different filler neck, etc... (get my point? too much work for a STOCK deck)

I did the 00+ swap on my 99.. and I still have issues with my car.... but I did it for the GM Supercharger reflash.. not the radio
