Head unit wiring harness question
Wednesday, May 19, 2010 3:18 PM
Okay I have a Pioneer DEH-P5800MP head until and i am looking to install it into my 2001 z. I have the factory radio right now. I bought all the components I need. I have one question and forgive me if this has been asked before, I've tried the search and none of the hits answer my question. I have the metra wiring harness, however the plug for that wiring harness seems to be too big to fit into the head unit?? DO i need some sort of adapter?

Did you read the sticky in the audio & electronics forum?

After re-reading your post.....

You have the harness for the Pioneer head unit, right? The Metra harness plugs into your factory wiring.

Hmmmm,

Can't see anything with Firefox, Internet Explorer shows a picture should be there, but won't load.

Anyway- it should go like this:

Factory harness > Metra Harness spliced to Pioneer harness < Pioneer deck

Click here for useful info. The colors might not be accurate, but I can tell you that on my 05 I just had to match wire colors. I did use a different brand of harness though.

Both harnesses should identify their wires, just match them up. Your switched 12V line (12V ACC) will need power. I ran mine off the wiper fuse with a fuse tap.
