Just wondering:
If I have a 97' Cavalier, base model, radio only (maybe it has cassette, I don't know), can I swap in a 97' factory cavalier radio/cd player and would it be plug and play with the same wiring?
Also, would it be possible to use a CD player from a newer style cav without programming...?
Thanks
I think you should be fine except if you go with a newer one youll have to deal with the theftlock.
well you cant go any newer then the 99's. 2000 and up are double din.
Valid point. Im not a Cav guy. My bad.

same difference with the sunfire
2000+ radios won't work at all. Period.
Okay, thanks for the help. One other question: The factory CD player won't play mp3 formatted CDs, right? Like the ones I burn on my computer?
mp3 CDs no ... only the double dins have that feature. well some of them. but they will play regular burnt Cds
So (audio newbie here)... what is the difference between mp3 cds and the ones I burn on my computer... I thought I burned them all in mp3 format... is there a format I can burn them in that will work in the stock cd player...?
Ok You can format the Cd as an audio cd which will hold like 16 or 20 songs. Then you have mp3 format which will hold somewhere around 100 songs. Theres more to it that that but the stock one will play the audio CDs as long as youre using a CD-R disc and not a CD-RW one.
Thanks so much! Now I get it, that makes sense. Now I've just got to find a factory cd player.
Shouldnt be too hard. Wrecking yard are chock full of Cavs and similar interchanges.
