Would anyone want to explain how to properly install and setup an AudioControl 2XS Line Driver/Crossover? Please.
1.) mount it
2.)run power, ground and remote to it.
3.) plug in rca's
4.) set gain
From what I was finding I thought it seemed that easy. Just wanted make sure it was. Should it be put closer to the amp or head?
I would put it closer to the headunit.
Ok like glove box area? Or would there be an issue with it overheating in an enlcosed space?
you could put it in the back by the amps if you want....and you can jump all the power wires back there too. It might be easier in the back to set it/tune it cause most crossovers are set from the top and not the side like an EQ.
Thats what I was going to do but the manual i found on the web suggested closer to the head cause it prevents interference down the wire length to the amp. It seems like i might get interference within the crossover sitting close to all my power and ground wires.
So i have it hooked up but its not indicating that its increasing voltage but its on and the crossover works. Does anyone know where I could get a PFM Low Pass for this thing? I want it closer to 30 hz. Its 33 hz right now and its kinda cutting out right above where I want it.
Really? How much is a noticeable change?
sndsgood wrote:yeah if its a line driver its best close to the headunit, the higher the voltage running thru your rca's the less chance of noise so take advantage of the higher voltage and keep it near the headunit, i doubt it will generate much heat, but if it does you could just pop a hole above it in the glove box to allow heat to vent out.
word
And why are you omly wanting 33-30 hz and under on subs? I have mine set at about 70
Sorry guys i miss typed the subsonic is at 33ish maybe lower. The low pass is at 80.
Haha ya I get things mixed around sometimes. I like having the subsonic filter but I mean its a 15, I want it to hit low. Idk i think once I got ported it'll make a difference. I have some ghetto rigged 12 box cut out to a 15 hole while I work on getting a slot ported one. It works I guess.
I'm going to drop my low pass down when I get a component set or something that will give me better mid bass cause the 15s not amazing at that sort of thing.
Ok. I'm getting my box built next weekend when my dad's got time to help me out. I have the money for it now cause my tickets paid off. Lnhiv is helping me design a good slot ported box. Thats box is taking one hell of a beating from that sub. I ran something like 34 4 inch screws into it to hoId it together. I have my filters in the head at 80 hz and the low pass on the crossovers 80 but I'll probably set it lower when I get some better speakers. The fronts are stock and they make unholy noise when any bass goes through them. I might make some adapters to put my Clarion 6x9s up front. So that should help.
