New subwoofer enclosure!!!
Sunday, March 02, 2008 7:11 PM
Ive been here for some time but never posted any pics of my car or stereo. In December I started building a new sub enclosure. I got tired of not having enough trunk space because of the old enclosure and the position of the amp so I decided to build a new one.
Here are the pics:

Old Enclosure:

Building the new one:

This is My first time building a fiberglass enclosure.
Still need to hide some cables.

Hope you enjoy

very nice...

it'd be nice if you could get the exact fabric color used in the trunk to wrap it...

That is what I wanted to do, but couldn't find a fabric that match exactly the trunk. That color is the closest I could find to match.

I think there is no difference in sound. I think it sound the same, but I don't have a lot of experience in car audio. Maybe someone with more experience can notice a difference, but as said before I think it sound the same.

To sounds like a broken record...

That looks great, especially for a first time glass job.

Very nice, clean install. I love those type far more than the all-out crazy setups.

For your first time, I'd say you did a killer job.

Out of curiosity, I don't see that it's held in there in any way. Did you put anything in there to hold it in place?

Its held by two bolts and two steel plates covered in fabric, both of them are attached to existing holes in the car. one is near the back seat and the other is is near the subwoofer. At first I wasn't sure the enclosure would move or not. One week has passed and haven't had any problems. It doesn't move at all. I will post post pictures of how it is held in place later.

It really took me a lot of time to finish it, I started working on it on December and finished it las weekend, working only Saturdays because of college. It was really time consuming and you really need to have patience to work with fiberglass.

Thanks for the coments

Wow! That looks really nice. If I end up putting a sub in and don't get one of those powered ones, I'd like to do something like that. (Although I'd have to put a grill over the speaker...it would not last a day in the open like that with all the crap I've got floating around my trunk lol)

that looks amazing! it makes me want to attempt something like that.

how did you put the new carpet on? just spray adhesive or hot glue? i want to recover my whole trunk and i don know how to make it stick the best
