I just installed a remote start yesterday (DEI Directed) 24921 and everything works fine but the range you have to be in to get it to work is in the 10 ft range instead of the 500' + range claimed (I wouldnt expect anything better than 100). I tried changing the remotes battery and lengthening the antenna wire to the dash and the range still blows..

Try pointing the remote into your brain when you use it. It sounds bizarre but it has been proven to substantially increase the range of radio signal remotes.
ANT must nto be aimed right...i have a remote start that i can hit from inside a 7 story building 2 parking lots out and can get it to start.
try holding the button a little longer too

Did you install it yourself? Was it a brand new system?
DEI's easily put out 500 feet minimum. I've installed over 800 in the last 7 years, something is wrong.

yes I installed it myself, it was new and I already posted the model # but no it wasnt a Boa//

try puttin the antenna by the weather strip (assuming the antenna is the single wire about 1 foot long). If that doesnt help much press the remote under your chin while your trying to remote start...for some reason this actually works....if all else fails buy a better unit =P
I think the unit itself might be damaged but I'll try the weatherstrip idea..

my remote start doesn't have a great range either and it's a Python 871XP. Sometimes I can be standing right infront of it and it wont get the signal.

lengthening the antenna wire will not make it work better. if anything it will decrease range. the length of the wire is preset from the facotory...many other factors such as cell phone interference can also shorten the distance...but to be in the 10 foot range thats pretty @!#$ty.
