i just bought a sony HU with Aux input in the front and CD changer inputs... but the manually never showed how to change the clock setting...anyone familar with how to change the clock setting

Take it back and get a pioneer or something.

Lol, yes, I'm sure that the pioneer clock will be much easier to set. If it's the same one I've got, you have to hold the volume knob in for about five seconds or so until it shows something on the info panel thingy then play with that. I think you have to turn the knob to change the time and use the seek buttons to change between hour or minute. Also, on note of upgrades, sony is one of the bottom line units to go with, I got it because it was cheap and better than factory and had a good button light color scheme. If you so desire better sound quality then yes, upgrade, but if you just want something better than stock, keep your sony.
