Sub Wiring

I've got the option to get dual 4 or dual 2 OHM VC Woofers. My amp can handle down to 2 OHM and that's where I want to put it because it's 400 watts of power vs the 200 watts in 4 OHM. For starters, I'm not sure whether I understand the whole OHM Load rule entirely. If I hook my subs in a way to get 2 OHMs at the amp, I get 400 watts but if I hook them to 4 OHMs I get 200 watts. Why would the 4 OHMs even be an option if it's half of the wattage output. Does the 2 OHM and 4 OHM produce the same volume and quality of music eventhough the 4 OHM is half the wattage output?

With that hopefully answered, what configureation can I use and which speakers should I purchase to get both subs to total at 2 OHM. Remember I can get either the dual coiled 2 ohm or the dual coiled 4 ohm. Thanks

Also, I think I figured out my wiring problem with the battery terminals. I just buy a side post adaptor which extends the length of the one I have stock, then I replace the old one in the battery lead with the new one and slip the ring terminal on the new bolt looking thing that screws into the battery holding both cables on? Please correct me if I'm wrong, I don't want to cook anything, plus I should have one of my friends with me when I do this, he's had his share of installations but has never touched a cavalier, hence my posting on these forums.

If you get dual 2 ohms you can wire them together to have a final independace of 2ohms. which is what you want. That is if your amp is mono Wiring diagram (its option 2).
but if your using a 2 channel amp you want dual 4 so you can wire the coils together in parallel (neg to neg___ pos to pos)

And yes your correct on the gm side post adapter like this : ADAPTOR

Omg, dude, thanks, every question answered like that in detail...WITH PICTURES. lol. Thanks for the help, didn't think the 2ohm was possible with either mix of the subs but looks like it is.
