Aftermarket Radio Issue
Tuesday, December 12, 2006 2:30 AM
I purchased the Sony Xav a1 and setup all wires from the aftermarket radio to the new wiring harness that I had to purchase for the car. My problem is that there is no music coming out! I dont have RCAs in my car for my internal speakers because they are still on stock wiring and the only place i hear sound coming out of is from my subs because i have an RCAs running from my sub amp to the head unit. i do not have an aftermarket amp powering my 4 internal speakers, so this means all wiring is stock = no RCAs. Does anyone know why or have an idea my speakers are not playing. Could it be a setting in the headunit menu? Could it be stock wiring? Again the only thing i hear is my subs thumping.

Please, if you need more info to help me out I will provide it.

I am not looking for anyone to tell me wheather i have a nice radio or not because usually conversations turn into what headunits are crap and what are not. I am looking for help to get this fixed. Thanks guys and gals.

Is there a setting to turn the internal amp on and off? Check for that.

Do you have the factory Monsoon setup? if you do make sure the blue/white wire from the radio harness is connected to the blue wire in the factory harness. If the factory radio works and this one doesn't its a matter of elimination. It shouldn't be the radio if the pre-outs work than the internal amp is probably still good its rare that all channels on the deck go bad at once anyway.

the blue and white wire is for the amp turn on. when the radio turns on it sends 12 volts to amps to turn the on unlike the blue wire which only sends 12 volts to the antenna which it shuts off when you switch to cd or other sources. Good luck hope it works for ya.
