Power off the remote turn on?
Tuesday, November 21, 2006 8:46 PM
Would it be possibal to power something off the Remote turn on wire for the amp? I cant remeber if it is 12v or not. I am wanting to hook up some neons around my amps and I wanted to have them turn on when the amp and stereo is on. Any way to do this without the remote turn on wire if that wont work?

Use a relay that works off the headunits remote turn on

just use a realy and the remote wire as the trigger

My car may run 18s, but I can do your taxes in 10 seconds flat.
JBO lube - they would never have enough in stock and we'd never see RodimusPrime again

thats what i thought. a relay is your best bet besides running a new wire from a switched 12v+ source

This idea worked for me. Right after I installed my sound system I used the remote wire to power a 15" blue neon that I have mounted above the box (out of view). Hell I even used the ground terminal on the amp for the ground wire from the neon tube. It works perfectly and has worked now for nearly 5 years. Go for it.

x2 If you're going to use the remote wire, do it the right way (otherwise you risk burning something out)

Amps have an internal relay that are activated by the remote wire... what you have planned is no different
