Semi-Final Build (56K Fire Hazard!)
Wednesday, November 01, 2006 6:21 PM
Thought I would share some semi-final build pictures of my friends 05 cavaliers system. Still some missing parts. Optima Yellow Top, wire loom isnt installed, some interior is missing and the sub-box setup is only temporary. Some suggestions for these Type-R's would be appreciated. Does anyone know if you can still buy a alpine type-r dual 12" box somewhere? Also not pictured are the JL Audio TR690-TXi 6x9's in the rear.

Ne wayz, on with the pics...

Up front ..... Alpine DVA-9861 (Speaks for Itself, DVD, DTS, I-Pod, Optical Out, 3x4 Volt Pre-out)

In the Doors .... Focal Polyglass 130V2 Component Set, worth every penny!

In the Trunk .... 2x Alpine 12" Type-R's - Temprarily inverted in a Alpine Type-S Box. They were living in 2 seperate Single 12"Type-R box's but changed to this setup due to running out of space. Any suggestions from guys with dual 12 type-r's would be welcomed!

The Power .... All Audison Connection 2awg power and ground wire + boxes, absolutly beautiful parts.

Line Driver .... Phoenix Gold Linedriver 66 = 8v RCA's

The Power .... PG Titanium 500.4 for the speakers, & a twin PG Titanium 600.2 for the R's in the Trunk
Loss-pass cabel mounted next to Head unit.

A little bit of clean up, and some tuning and this system will be complete.
C&C welcome . . .

Not bad. All you need is a new sub box now.

I have one question..Why not hide the crossovers for the comps? It looks...dumb...In my opinion anyway...being out in the open

you want to bump, then they will bump and hit real hard and a lot good.

My opinion i think they look great therefor we did not hide them.

exactly . . .

the pictures dont do those crossovers justice, everyone that sees it in person comments on how sick they look there.

from a standing position, the wires running to the crossovers are hardly visable

Only thing I don't like is the Head Unit. I love Alpine, but I'm just not a fan of the new designs.

If you are refering to the alpine head-unit, its a standard double-din (2K5 Cavalier) mounting kit available pretty much anywhere you can buy a cd player.

i had a box like that but for the Type-R's, blew the ends off and cracked all the joints. all that with only 2 12" type-r's and the alpine MRD-500 amp.

Those boxes(at least mine) are made like @!#$, had i only known when i bought it.
They are only glued together, no screw, no nails...nothing.

got a Bassworx box now (at least i think thats the name) built a million times better; glued, jointed and scewed.

bass hits alot harder and deeper now.

you will be alot happier when you ditch that box

this is tru however, you want the "ISO mount" kit.. its a slightly different way of installing your stereo..
