wondering if anyone has done it before?got pics? how much better does it sound? i want to put 5 1/4's in rear doors, would go bigger but the doors are small and dont want too much of the door taken up by it, and just want the high/mids anyways, thats why im thinking 5 1/4 3 ways.
Good idea - have you taken the rear door panel off yet to find your mounting location? I'm pretty sure you're going to put it on the bottom part, near the place where the window handle is. I think it's a sweet idea, definitely looking forward to pics!
I bet it would sound better with 6x9 in rear deck then 5 and 1/4 in the door. I am not even sure if you could do it because of the lack of clearance when the window is down. Plus the sound would come fom down by your feet instead of up by your head. Do you really want to mount your speakers where they get kicked every time someone gets in or out of your car? Way not worth it.

FORGET GIRLS GONE WILD WE HAVE GOVERNMENT SPENDING GONE WILD!
i already have replaced the front door speakers, rear deck speakers and put a 12" sub in the trunk, and head unit, so i was figuring to finish it off rear door speakers would be nice and also with a mesh grille i could easily fab up to put over the woofer as so it doesnt get damaged, and i dont often have 4 people in the car anyways.
Not only would it be coming from down low, it'd be low AND behind you... I can't imagine that sounding very well. Louder, sure, what isn't absorbed by the seats will get to your ears, but not quality.
I don't think it'd be a good idea...Imaging on that sounds like it would be horrendous...If you want louder though, just amp your front speakers, should be a dramatic difference...If you haven't already anyways...and if you still arn't happy ... Maybe the back ones, although that isn't good for imaging either...But I think if you got some good fronts and amped them up, you'd be happier than with a set of speakers in the rear doors... Just my 2 cents...

LOL
Whatever's got the right idea. If the front speakers are amped and it still isn't loud enough, upgrade them to a three way component set that handles a lot of power and throw about 200rms at each side and you won't want any more speakers in your car.
These will take care of you
putting components in is not an option, i dont like components and as for sound quality/audio info i dont need it, im also a mobile dj so know more thatn my share about audio, and i dont like the sound of components or the fact of having to place all the components ie corssovers, amps, tweeters, mids, i want a clean look for the most part so no comp. for me, and the 4x6 i put in the front are good and i plan on putting tweeters flush mount in the top of the doors and have them same color match as interior, im just thining the speakers in the back will add more dimension wich is what i want, just waiting to here from someone who has done it or something similar, also rear door speakers dont get muffled they usually sound damn good i had some in my mitsubishi diamante they were great, just as long as there not too low in the door, i plan on getting some speakers i was lookingat that are made for tight spaces so the window clearance wont be an issue.

How does adding speakers in the rear door add more dimension? Music is in stereo...Left and right....Not up down back and front... As for not liking the sounds of components, I seriously suggest you try out some good ones, because components are for the most part, far superior to coaxial ones.... And not wanting an amp? why? You're trying to go louder with ur horrible sound staging with music at the floor, if DJing gave you any clue, you'd know that that would sound bad right from the get go...In fact I highly doubt anyone put rear door speakers in their J because whats the point? A lot of people remove the back ones because they make for bad imaging, but hey, if you want em in there, go for it, I'm not going to stop you, just trying to help aim you in a new direction

Leave him alone guys, when is the last time you hear SQ at a concert or anywhere else DJ speakers are?

like i said comp. take up too much room and unless u mold in some of the equip it looks gay, ive seeen some people with there cav's put the amps/crossovers under dash with sheet metal screws....., crossovers in the storage compartment in the door, i rather not all the extra crap and plus amping the 6x9's, they could take it, but i have already had people say the bass/6x9's in the back of their heads was too much after only playing for a minute, but if i had some door speakers that wouldnt be in there face and used a crossover setup to the 6x9 then id get better dimension, and for the fact that it is low and behind me so i wont hear it.... wouldnt that go for the same as my front door speakers? i hear them now, and components are split up so the mid bass woofer i wouldnt hear? and the sub in the back in the trunk, i dont hear that even though bass is uni-directional. btw are you not all over the f&f ghetto looking body kits and spray painting interior parts thing yet????jw..... anyways whole point was to see if anyone else has done it in this particular forum site, if not ok, if yes then cool, get some pics up.
donny mcneil wrote:btw are you not all over the f&f ghetto looking body kits and spray painting interior parts thing yet????.
Who's that aimed at...I'm assuming sndsgood because I ain't got a body kit, or painted interior...His car is very clean, how is it f&f I don't see decals and roof scoops, all I see is a nice sunfire...But anyway that's off topic
And no, no one said that you wouldn't hear them, just it wouldn't sound good...If you're totally against the whole "run 1 set of comp's in the front with an amp and leave the rear with nothing" idea...Maybe you could just do a j-body first, I think someone would give you some style points for doing something that hasn't been done before, or if it has, very few, because I have yet to see it... Anyway, good luck with that whole procedure, I was just trying to point you in a new direction that's all, do what you like, it's your car, as long as you're happy with it that's all that matters, right?

actully you can put componets in the doors quite easily many many people on here have done it.
what are you talking about better demention, this isnt making any bit of sence. and as far as the bass goes the proper wording is omni-directional. being a dj you'd think you'd know that one. and if all you want is loud music, you can pretty much put the speakers anywhere you want. as for the whole f&tf remark, ive been modding cars now for about10 years. well before the movie ever came out. but i guess all you know about our scene is what you saw from the movie since your so young and probalby dont know much more about modding a car then what you saw at the movies.

I want to know what kind of head unit can efficiently push 90 watts continuous to 4x6's. You can easlity fit the 6.5 mid bass drivers behind the door pane out of sight. Since you sain you already wanted to flush mount tweeters in the tops of the doors, you're halfway to components anyhow. If you were to amp those 4x6's in the doors, you'd be better off than putting speakers in the rear doors.
I agree that nobody here has addressed your original question, and it probably hasn't been done by too many. That said, there is probably a reason why it hasn't been done by anyone. It's not going to sound good. If you want it louder, focus on the speakers that you are closest to. Even if you put 6.5 coaxials in the doors, the sound will be better than the 4x6's in there. If you have DJ speakers, examine the shape of them. Are they round or oval?
If i hadn't spent money on 6x9's for the back deck, I would have found a way to put 8" woofers in the rear deck. IMO round=good sound reproduction, oval=poor sound reproduction. There shoud be a manufacturer that takes a 6x9 shaped plate, and puts a 6.5 inch mid bass and a tweeter in the same space as the 6x9. They do it with 4x6's.
BTW, SNDSGOOD, that setup looks amazing! Nice ride!
Gotta keep on livin', L-I-V-I-N
since someone already dug this up, sndsgood is that a brake petal in that picture. Thats the biggest brake pedal i have ever seen
haha this is sooo old lol speakers in the back was to make it sound a lil better for the rear passengers is all, im not gonna do it anyways, i put the tweeters in the front and an amp to the tweeters and 4x6's and it sounds sweet, now i just need to get me a ported box for my twelve i prefer the sounds better than a sealed wich i have now. oh and i amped the 6x9's people have to hold there ears above 18 in the back seat and goes to 40 lol but sounds great from the front seats, good bass, mids and highs. thanks for ur comments and all but im so done with this topic.
