ok 3 cavs, silver one got an alpine touch screen, RDS deck from silver 04 got moved to red 04, red 04 had a base deck with cd, tan 04 has base deck no cd, red 04's cd radio has been on a shelf for prolly a year, pulled the base am/fm out of the tan cav today and pluged in the red cavs radio, its locked. A 2004 cavalier base radio with cd (no RDS, no MP3, no monsoon) can I unlock it or do I need to take it in?

Anyone figured this out yet? I have a 2004 Cavvy with a stock no nothing CD player thats locked. Bought it to replace the AM/FM it had.

You need to take it in. Since it is a class 2 databus radio, information form the bcm goes to the radio. In our cases, it's JUST the radio, but also on-star and the chimes go thru it. You'll need a tech-II to unlock it.
