2000+ Fog lamps + High beams mod
Just like the 95-99 models, 2000+ J-bodies have a function to shut off the fog lamps when your high beams are on. The 2000+ models use a different setup to control the fogs though. Here's how to bypass that function and keep your fogs on all the time on your 2000+ model!
You will need a new SPST switch and some wire. You can't re-use the old switch as it isn't actually a switch - it's a momentary button that sends a signal to the body control module (BCM), which in turn switches the fogs on and off. The same BCM senses when the high beams are on and shuts them off, so you have to wire in a new switch at the fog lamp relay instead.
Instructions
1. Open the hood, remove the black plastic rad cover (6 plastic pops) and look between the front bumper and radiator. There is a gray relay mounted to the back of the bumper rail next to the driver's side headlight.
2. Pop the relay loose from the bumper and remove the electrical tape to access the wiring. You may find it easier if you disconnect the relay from the socket.
3. Look at the bottom of the relay where the wires are entering and cut the green/white stripe wire.
4. Connect the end of the green/white wire which goes to the relay to a new switch. If you want to mount this switch in your dash, attach a long wire to it and run it through the firewall to the dash. The other end of the switch gets connected to ground (the car's frame). If you want your fog lights to come on all the time, you can skip the switch and simply ground out the relay connection (the green/white wire).
5. Tape off the other end of the green/white wire that does not go into the relay. (the end you didn't do anything with)
Note: your factory switch will no longer work with this setup.. I popped out my switch and put in one from a 95-99 Cavalier (which is an actual switch) and wired it directly to the green/white wire... the other wire goes to ground.
