I was just wondering do the indash dvd players with screens hook up the same way as a regular headunit? Im looking at getting one of these really soon and just wondering is it any differnet becuase i have hooked up a lot of headunits before. or should i get it done professionally. And i kno this prob wouldnt be reccomended but how would u get it to hook up that u can watch a dvd while driving ive heard it gets hooked up so the parkin break has to be on. THanks
Yes they hookup the same way as a regular CD player, but (not sure about clarion) on the alpine IVA-D310 there are 2 seperate pieces (tuner box and screen) the screen goes in like a normal cd player and the tuner box is placed somewhere underneath the dash.
As for the parking brake trick, I believe you just ground the wire (someone correct me if i'm wrong) look at schematic some HU's are different.
Hook it up yourself the dash on the sunfire is easy to take apart and you'll have your stereo ready in no time. (NO COSTS)
I have a Clarion VRX935VD, great dvd player. They use all the same connections, only difference is that the main computer unit is seperate and you have to put it somewhere else. I pulled the passenger seat and attached it underheath. THey come with a really long harness that you wire to youre normal connections and then plug into the hide-away unit. From there it has a single main cable that goes to the head unit, and some RCA outs and speaker outs. I hoked mine up so it would stay on without the e-brake up, really quite simple, just ground the wire that should go to the ebrake, unless its a newer unit, they require some type of switch, if you search you can find more information on it.
alright thanx alot guys mayb i'll go pic one up this week.
Do you mean because Clarions are a true D.I.N and you don't need a seperate brain anymore.
