Dude, you waited 8 hours for your answer? Jesus, have some patience. Radios usually have an operating range - read the instruction sheet, and you probably went way under it.
don't have a sheet....lol...it was a demo...so got it w/out box

Check kenwood's site then, they might have it in a .pdf file.
is it a mask faceplate? if so the strip running from it to the circuit board has gone bad, costs about 13 bucks last time i replaced one, simple too.
how do u replace it and where did u get it?

hey. i want to know to. i have a older kenwood with a flip face so its hidden that the same thing is wrong. i was told 100 to have it fixed. where can i get the part and how much. heers the CD Player Model- KDC-9017
WOJO your part # is J84-0121-12 from
http://www.kenwoodparts.com/parts/search.php
Midnight Cav/Fire I will send you the strip I talked to you about, but it will not be until at least tomorrow till I can get it. will also take pictures for you if you still want them.
Wojo, that part is $11.10 plus shipping, the $100 is gonna be mostly labor on a 15 minute jjob. just make sure you are grounded before cracking the case
so thats the ribbon cable that goes to the faceplate right??
ok yeah i get it. it says another part is recomended with the repair of that one. should i get that part to or will i be ok without it??
should be ok without it, the stupid ribbon cable just gets brittle over time and use, especially in extreme weather conditions. just don't get excited and break something internally. if it don't come apart fairly easily then you missed something, if you get frustrated step back a second take a breath and make sure you didn't miss a step.
i don't remember if the new ribbons come with directions or not but I don't think they do.
u got mail ToBoGgAn

I suggest you download one of those manuals over the Web. Better yet, just call Kenwood's tech support.
