Can someone do me a huge favor? I want to add power truck to my cav. I have a stock power latch from a 2000 cav. (my car is a 95)

there is 3 wires coming out of it

1. black
2. black and white
3. orange

can some please check the voltage on these wires for me, tell me if the wire is pos or neg and also the voltage when using the power truck and when not in use..

thank you to anyone who can help!!!!!!

Black is always ground. Orange is usually power. Black and white is the switched, and I believe it's switched ground but don't quote me on that. I'm going from memory... I'll check my service manuals when I get home (I'm at work right now)

On my 98 Z the black/white supplies 12 volts to the popper. I cannot say about the other two wires since mine only has the one wire and uses it own metal body for ground.

Sorry, my bad. Forgot about this thread.

So... The 2000 service manual says one wire, and I checked my car... also a 2000... and it is in fact just one wire... switched positive, black wire with white tracer.

You sure it's from a 2000? Does it have the glow in the dark handle release on it? If so, it's a 2002 or so and up... maybe 2003. That has three wires on it, and I think it's also the trunk light power (which would explain the orange wire).

Unfortunately, I don't know the answer as I don't have a 2003 service manual

If you don't care about the light, you can probably just hook up the black/white wire.

You'll want to send it a momentary 12v pulse to pop it.

I looked at my friend Al's trunk today.. his is a 2003. The black/white is the trunk release.. positive. The black I'm not sure.. the orange/black is power.

I think the black wire goes to the trunk light (inside the trunk, not the third brake light), because there's no mercury switch on his trunk lid arms.
