I'm about to upgrade my component speakers soon, and I would like to stick with all Alpine. I was looking at the SPS-460A 4"X6" but I would really like something alittle better. But thats the only model Alpine makes for that size. In the rear, I'm thinkin' about going with the SPS-690A 6"x9".
Any input or comments would be cool.
run a 5 1/4 or a 6.5" up front...it'll be a lot louder and you'll get more midbass.
I run JL audio XR series

i like my boston RCs
nothing crazy but nice clear tweets
lacks a little on the mid bass but i imagine if u put them in kick panels or some sort of enclosure that would take care of that problem
yeah, just remove the 4x6 housing in the door and make a custom plate from 3/4" MDF for the 5.25 or 6.5. I have 5.25s in the front, but wish I had done 6.5s, and 6.5s in the rear Mine are coaxials, with adjustable angle tweeters and they sound pretty decent, even with the stock head unit back in there.
I would do Type R components. 6.5 inch would sound best, if you want good sound and want to get the most out of them, amp em up. my car when finished, and when i can sell my current sub and box will be all Alpine, and its all SQ, so if ur going for good sound quality i would recomend doing the 6.5 inch adapter and getting a component set, just dont mount the tweeters too close to your head, yo uwill NOT like the sound, i personaly would recomend getting a sub or subs, couple 10s sealed is the way im going, and do the comps, fade it to the front so your rear speakers arent getting much of the sound, depending on if u care about the people in the back seat, mount the tweets up by the sindsheild, and make sure everything has enough power getting to it, and i garuntee you will be happy! and also... dont cheap out on a deck, it DOES make a world of difference
On the other hand....you have other fingers.

Go with Alpine Type X 6.5 if you can afford it. One of my friends has those in his TC, they are extremely clear and sound great. I will be going with those up front and the Type R 6x9's in the back( only because they dont have a type X). I know you will love the results if you have ood clean power. also the Type X comes with a really good Xover for the components, you can set it so that it equals everything out depending on how far you are from each of the components.
6.5" component set for clarity, in a kcik panel elcosure...its worth every penny. infinity's are VERY crisp sounding too. im not crazy about alpine speakers, just their subs and amps.

this useless post brought to you by the alcoholic known as LUNDiS
lundis is right, but i still say try the tweets up by the windshield... im serious about that... well also lundis i dont aggree about alpine not being great speakers i love em

but everyone has their own preferences, and i personaly think the Type R comps are amazing, and i realy dont like the type S, world of difference between them

get kick panels for sure. i love mine. 6.5" woofer in the door, 4" mid and 1" tweet in the kicks (all boston pro's by the way). and the kick panels will give you good imaging as well. don't even need rear fill speakers per say if you have a good set of components up front. although i do have mine in but the gain on the rear speakers is barely touching what the front is putting out.
Cool, thanks guys for the suggestions. I precatie it
