Today i stoped by the local stereo shop and picked myself up a Rockford Fosgate Punch P2002. Guy put it to 2 10" Audiobahn "Speical Edition" subs and it sounded decent. Hookin it up tonight before the f-ball game so i hope it sounds good.
you prolly woulda been better off w/ a audiobahn amp n fosgate subs.....
alright i dotn care i got a decent amp and it freakin rocks i love it. Hits hard as hell. I bridged it so it runs 200 watts to each amp and it sounds awsome.

I always likes the RF subs, never tried the amps.

umm no that amp when bridged puts out 200 watts total, so each amp is getting 100.

Yup. I've tried a lotta amps in the last 2 years and RF seems to be the best so far. Nice for highs and pretty good power for subs. Haven't tried Audiobahn yet though...
How do you have it wired, and what ohms are your subs? If you're running 2 4 ohm subs bridged, that amp isn't going to like that very long.

i have it wired so that each wire from the box terminel is runnin to the same pos and neg like the amp has it on the side. the subs are 4 ohms. I dont see why because it says its made for that.
That'll work. You should be getting around 100 rms.

But you're not bridged, you're running stereo. 100 watts a channel. Volts x amps = watts, but both are going to be constantly changing.

Right now you are running 50watts to each sub. Chances are you are under powering, so I wouldnt be driving the hell out of them to much. Cause you will fry the voice coils.

again with the "underpowering is going to fry em" crap.. uhg....as for RF amps, i love em, i realy recomend them to most of my customers if they want my advice on affordable, reliable, powering over their rating, amps. theyre jsut wonderfull, my dads monte has had an RF amp in it for..christ...almost 3 years now, not a single issue period, my car, going on a year with the current P3002 witch is getting moved to my Comps and accompanied by a P8002 soon, theyre just wonderfull amps

If your under powering them and driving the hell out of them, the voice coils will burn out.
Plain and simple. The impedences go away up and the voice coils get super hot. And not to mention that most of these guys have them in the wrong box and arent damped properly.

Why reccomend a Rockford Fosgate amp when you could reccomend a Planet Audio unit to them, at a lower cost, with a 5 year warrenty...........HAND BUILT in the USA....... puts OUT RATED POWER + worth of power and each and every amp comes with a spec sheet with all factory tests done, telling you everything...... Rockford is decent, but there is so much better......

Actually, RF amps are very well designed and built and they give you the specs as well. They are worth every penny. If used properly. Ive been running a RF amp for 3 or 4 years now, its a 4 channel 75 watts x 4, for the front and back. It still sounds as good as the day I put it in. It has really good control on the low end, tons of head room and the gain is set at less then half. And if it quits, then I will buy anther one.

Im sorry Short Hand, but i have personal experience with RF and a lot of other brand amps, and i will say first hand that for the money, you realy cant beat them, they are very well made, last long as hell, put out more than rated power, and usualy its a surprisingly large amount more than rated power, they also come with the spec sheets and all that..im not gunna back down and say RF is crap cuz planet audio has a 5 year warranty. Im not gunna buy a Hyundai cuz it has a 100K mile warranty and say its better quality than, and will out perform my Chevy because i only get 32k mile warranty... sorry, just not gunna happen

if you underpower a sub, but have the gain properly set you will never do any damage plain and simple.
underpowering a speakers does not damage it in any way. having your gain turned up does, that has nothing to do with underpowering.
