i have a question for any of you car audio guys ... i have pioneer premier 3-way 5-14" 160Wmax speakers in my doors and i have the correct amount of power going to them from the cd player (35Wrms) yet they are no wheres near as loud as my 6x9's(premier 4-way 420Wmax) in the rear?? i was wondering why its like that and if there are any thing i can do to make them louder or if there is any brand that makes some other 5-1/4" speakers that will go just as loud as the 6x9's??

pushrod i dont have any problems with daily driving although i do have to remind people that they are there.
stephen try adjusting your fader more to the front or add an amp to power the front.if you have those door speakers crossed over around a 100 hz you could safely power them with 50 - 100 watts.i think the rms on my mb quarts(5 1/4 comp.) is something like 50 watts,i have them crossed over @ 125 hz and have about 85 watts powering them.they sound great.

yo dude, nice work! shows you put some time into it. question- how much you pay for the kick panels? i want a pair for myself, and 130 bucks for 2 peices of pastic seems outrageous to me.

adam my set up is easy to build i basically have a box with a trim panel covering the front of the box.after you get your box were you want and secure to the floor you make the trim panel.
items needed:
card board
poster board cut into 2" strips at least 6 " long
scissors
tape
heres what to do:
cut a piece of card borad big enough to cover almost the entire area your trying to cover leaving a gap to be filled in later by the poster board strips
secure the card board to the face of the box.i usally cut a hole in the middle and tape it to the box
now take your strips and start filling in the gaps trim and cut to fit each leaving about an 1/8 of an inch.(this is to allow for your material later, carpet, vynal, etc)taping them in place
dont forget to make slots for the trunk hinges
when your done tranfer your pattern to wood and cut it out(i use 1/4" mdf)
test fit,trim as needed
as far as your opening for your spearkers thats up to you,the design of that is up to you.of course rememer measure twice cut once
and as for holding the trim panel in place i made two "L" brackets out of some scrap mdf and attached them to the back of the trim panel so they are flush with the sides of the box and i ran screws from inside the box throuhg the side of the box into the "L" brackets for a cleaner look.
im not very good at giving instructionsi hope you can understand them,of course if you want to buy my trunk set up minus the equipment you can have it all for 75 bucks or 300 with the subs and grilles.if you want to drive to va to get.
